We briefly introduced Elcombe Old Boys in Round 1, let's give them a full introduction here.

2010 Algarve Open: As Vodafone FC they were drawn in the Group of Death and progressed to the final of the Plate competition which they won 3-2.

2012 Mallorca Tournament: Finished 4th in their 6 team group and played in the Plate competition. Lost 2-0 in the Semi-Finals.

2013 Barcelona Fives: Won group with a 100% record. Won their Cup QF on penalties against Spain's ADP Allstars before a 3-1 loss in the Semi-Finals to the eventual winners, Los Swallacticos.

2014 Barcelona Fives: 3 draws in 4 games meant they qualified for the Trophy. 5-0 QF win, 2-0 SF win and another 5-0 win over German side SV Zoo in the Final.

2015 Barcelona Fives: Won Group D with a 100% record. Beat Rapid Bosco Navas in Cup QF before a 1-1 draw in the Semi-Final against Ireland's Alabama Hotpockets. The game went to penalties and Elcombe Old Boys missed out 3-2 in the shoot-out.

2016 Barcelona Fives: Champions! 7 wins, 2 draws (1 then won on a penalty shoot-out) and just 1 defeat to their name they lifted the coveted Barcelona Fives title.

2017 Barcelona Fives: Joint top of Group D with Denmark's Danish Dynamites on 16 points. Cup Quarter-Final, defeated Team Extreme 2-1. Lost 1-0 to Naranjitos in the Semi-Finals.

With a win under their belts already today they were about to play another Round 1 winner, Budapest Celtic Legends.

These were two evenly matched teams who could not be separated after two halves of football. The teams had to settle for a point each which meant they shared the lead at the top of Group B.

The next game was Hungarian Journalists NT against Bure Park Seniors.

2017 saw Bure Park step up to the Veterans level for the first time. Their Saga Louts squad finished 5th in Group A, the Where's Dave squad finished 4 th in Group B. Where's Dave qualified for the Plate Semi-Finals but went out to Porto's Compact Records.

The 2018 Mallorca Veterans Tournament saw a particularly successful day for Bure Park Seniors. They won Group A with 3 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat. Their good form continued into the knock-out phase where they won their Cup Semi-Final 1-0 over Epsom Ath. They ran out of legs in the final though as they slipped to a 3-0 defeat to Policia Local de Palma.

They started off with a loss albeit a slender 1-0 one to high quality opposition. Could they bounce back against the journalists?

It was the Hungarian Journalists NT that got off to fast start in this game. Peter Nagy scored twice in the first half to put his side in the ascendency. Bure Park Seniors job got that bit tougher after the break when Csaba Torocszkay extended that lead to 3-0 which was how we finished.

Peebles All Stars experienced our events for the first time in the Open Age section at the 2014 Barcelona Fives. The group phase saw them collect 1 draw and 3 defeats as they finished fifth. It qualified them for our third-tier knock-out competition, the Trophy. They drew German side SV Zoo and it was the team from Berlin who progressed (3-1) to the Semi-Finals.

They became the first team to represent Scotland in the Veterans category of our tournaments at the 2017 Lisbon Veterans Tournament. They produced 1 win and 1 draw from their group games which included the biggest win of the tournament (7-1). It was not quite enough to lift them into the Plate qualification places as they finished in fifth position.

At last year's 2018 Mallorca Veterans Tournament they started off slowly with 2 defeats (0-1, 1-3). They then embarked on a 4 game unbeaten run that saw them defeat the eventual champions Policia Local de Palma (2-1) and also pick-up three 0-0 draws. They finished third in their group to qualify for the Plate Semi-Finals but went out 5-0 to Bure Park Old Boys.

So far today they had earned a point with a 1-1 draw against Hungarian Journalists NT. They were now up against Old York Cosmos who lost their opening game but were well on the road to recovery in the first half here. James Kilkenny broke their duck in our tournaments with their first goal. Kester Witt quickly added a second. With those first goals came the first win, 2-0.
