Two
rounds to go and 6 games of football left on
the schedule to decide the teams' fates in Group
B. Mamarre FC would take to the field for their
final fixture against a World Pinteur team who
had a game in hand.
Mamarre
FC currently led the way on 13 points with a
5 point lead at the top and a 7 point lead over
their current opponents in third. It meant Cup
qualification was already assued. The could
win Group B with a win. A draw might be enough
although JUBI Titans could then catch them with
2 wins and it would come down to goal difference.
World
Pinteur's group phase in Riga last year was
1 win, 3 draws. So far, they had exactly the
same record but they had 2 games in the larger
group format here in Budapest. 4 points or more
from their final 2 games might be enough to
secure a place in the Cup. The French team were
currently on a run of 12 games unbeaten in the
group phase of our tournaments but that was
about to end.
Mamarre
FC scored the only goal of the game to become
the first team to defeat World Pinteur in the
group phase of our tournaments. The win meant
they had an incredible 8 point lead at the top
although they had now completed their fixtures.
Many congratulations to them.
GSF
Drunkerz had 4 points from 4 games to show for
their efforts so far. This was their fifth eurofootballfives.com
tournament and 4 points represented their lowest
number of points at this stage. However, all was
not lost. A win would put them into third place
and with a game to go their fate was very much
in their own hands.
3
Lions Touching Cloth were in exactly the same
position. 4 points from 4 games and potentially
eyeing up third position to take a place in the
Cup. They had just picked up their first victory
of the day and if they could put a little run
together then a place in the Cup was up for grabs.
Group
B had been a very tight group so far characterized
by low scoring games. This game was certainly
no different. Teams were getting full value for
their goals and 3 Lions Touching Cloth were the
team to do so in this one. Stacey Cross bagged
his first goal of the tournament whilst his team's
defence kept their third clean sheet in 5 games.
It was a second win on the bounce for 3 Lions
Touching Cloth and they were riding high in third.
What
a blow it was to GSF Drunkerz whose hopes of points
and a place in the Cup were dashed.
That
left us with FC Shaolin Badgers v JUBI Titans
to complete Round 6. FC Shaolin Badgers had experienced
a funny old day so far. In 3 of their 4 games
they had been competitive but not managed to put
the ball in the back of the net or collect some
points. There had been three 1-0 defeats and then
one outlying result (5-0 defeat).
JUBI
Titans had 2 wins and 2 draws so far. At the start
of Round 6 they were in second position. By the
end of Round 6 they could guarantee second position
and a place in the Cup with victory. Defeat would
open things up to the chasing pack.
When
the referee blew up for full time in this one
it was a familiar story for FC Shaolin Badgers,
a 1-0 defeat. There was certainly no shame in
this given the strength of the opposition. For
JUBI Titans it was a fourth clean sheet in five
games for Daniel Laszlo. Captain Barnabas Kantor
was the goalscorer for JUBI Titans.
