The second final of the day would see New Wave Funk versus Budapest Celtic Lions. With eight games of football already under their belt the two teams would need to summon one last burst of energy to ensure they would be picking up winners and not runners-up medals in the presentation.

Budapest Celtic Lions probably had the best stats for today but history was not on Budapest Celtic's side though. This was their 11th appearance in a eurofootballfives.com final and of the previous 10 they had won 2, lost 8 (full list below). This included 5 defeats out of 5 in Plate Finals. Could they break the hoodoo?

As a guide to form, these two teams had met earlier in the day. Budapest Celtic Lions won that fixture 2-0 so naturally a repeat would do them just fine. Could New Wave Funk turn it around?

A sub-plot of this Plate Final was the race for the golden boot award although we are sure the players themselves would have been unaware of the situation. Alex Jones and Dani Harasztos each had 7 goals and were joint top of the charts. It was perhaps fitting that a goal from the boot of one of these men would decide the contest and the 2019 Budapest Fives Plate competition.

In a closely fought contest there would be just one to decide the title. That goal went to Dani Harasztos – number 8 for the tournament, the Plate Final and the Top Goalscorer award all wrapped up in a moment.

We'd like to thank New Wave Funk for attending the tournament and offer our commiserations for the Final.

Our compliments though go to Budapest Celtic Lions – congratulations and enjoy the victory!
