It was the battle of the top two at the start of Round 4. Expats Paris FC sat at the summit with 7 points from a possible 9. Meglepetes were currently second with 6 points from 6 and a game in hand. This was the biggest battle of Group A to date.

Meglepetes' most recent appearance was the defence of their title in 2017. They began well with 3 wins and 2 draws from 5 group games. They conceded just 1 goal on the way to a Group C win. They qualified for the Cup Quarter-Finals and drew 2-2 with Paralytic Athletic. They lost out to the English team 2-1 on penalties.

The Hungarian team were in equally determined fashion today and it was they who took the lead through Mate Palmai. Expats FC Paris had been behind today (to Skidmarks) and recovered. They showed their battling qualities to make it 1-1 thanks to Tristan Blundell. It got even better for the men from Paris when they went 2-1 up against Julien Guillot.

Meglepetes were in danger of dropping points for the first time today but Tibor Zambo pulled them level at 2-2. Tibor Zsambo now had 5 goals to his name today and he was to increase that tally to 6 when he struck a winner to preserve Meglepetes' 100% record.

New Wave Funk made a first appearance at the 2018 Barcelona Fives and they were pretty unlucky to draw the group of death. They finished third in the group behind the eventual winners AC Mazi 1996 of Greece who topped the group. Los Portugalitos of Portugal finished second who have reached 2x eurofootballfives.com finals and New Wave Funk finished ahead of Black Sheep who won in Barcelona in 2012. New Wave Funk did very well to finish with 3 wins and 2 defeats. They reached the Plate Quarter-Finals and surprisingly exited the tournament in a close 3-2 defeat.

They had started slowly today with two defeats but had just picked up a fine 3-0 win against the (then) league leaders Deportivo Dooradoyle. Could they build on this win against the team immediately below them in the table, Budapest Celtic Lions.

Budapest Celtic won the title here in 2017 but had struggled today with 2 defeats from 2 games. If they had any hope of retaining the title then nothing less than 3 points would do. The home team got their act together as Maxime Bernard opened the scoring for the Lions. 1-0 became 2-0 as Maxime Bernard scored again to put the Hungarians in control. The result was secure when Lewis Turnbull made it 3-0.

Game 12 of Group A was Deportivo Dooradoyle versus Tom's Mum Is A Tramp FC. Deportivo Dooradoyle had lead the early Group A table but they had just suffered their first defeat of the day and were looking to bounce back here. If they could they would return to the top of the table with Meglepetes.

Tom's Mum Is A Tramp FC had experienced a tough start to the day with 2 defeats from 2. Could they turn their fortunes around here? If they were, they would need to make a comeback.

Deportivo Dooradoyle had a first class striker in their ranks. At the 2018 Gdansk Tournament Pa O'Brien finished as the top scorer with 15 goals on the day. So far today he had two goals from three games but he was to boost his tally here. Two goals in the early exchanges put Deportivo Dooradoyle 2-0 up. Joshua Jones second of the tournament reduced the deficit to 2-1. Pa O'Brien went on to complete his hattrick and his team's 3-1 victory.

The win for Deportivo Dooradoyle moved them up to second in the table. Only goal difference separated them and Meglepetes on top.
