As we entered the fifth round of games each match was becoming progressively more important. Games were running out and points were becoming increasingly valuable.

This was especially true for Fiorentina Turner and GSF Drunkerz. The teams were currently in fifth and fourth positions respectively and both had picked up their first wins of the day. Both these teams were used to qualifying for the Cup competition. Fiorentina Turner had a team in the Cup on both their previous eurofootballfives.com appearances. GSF Drunkerz had done so on their last three (out of 4) appearances. If either of these teams were to break into the top 3 of Group B then they would need a win from this game.

Fiorentina Turner would have come into the game on a huge high as they had just picked up a resounding 5-0 victory. Matt Hanson scored the opening goal in that game and he was on target again here. He made it 1-0 and then doubled the lead to 2-0 to put the English team in control.

GSF Drunkerz pulled a goal back through Marek Luciak but they were unable to level things up and slipped to a 2-1 defeat.

We are about to witness the biggest game of Group B yet – the battle of the top 2. It was Mamarre FC versus JUBI Titans.

Mamarre FC so far had 4 wins out of 4 and lead the way on 12 points. They had a 5 point lead over JUBI Titans but JUBI did have a game in hand. If JUBI Titans could claim victory then the hunt for the Group B title was well and truly on. If Mamarre FC were to take   xvictory we could already pencil them in as the Group B winners for the Cup Quarter-Final draw.

A draw would have been a better result for Mamarre FC as it would preserve their lead at the top and chalk a game off. JUBI Titans would probably view it as a point gained in the overall context of the group although in the short term it would allow the chasing pack to gain on them.

When the referee blew for full-time the two teams could not be split. A hard fought 0-0 draw meant it would be one point each.

The 3 Lions element of 3 Lions Touching Cloth were making appearance number 8 with their debut back at the 2008 Barca Fives. They came very close to going home with a trophy when they finished runners-up in the Plate competition. They were on fire in the knock-out stage with a 4-1 win over the CSF in the quarter-finals and a 6-1 win over the 2008 Prague Masters Plate winners, Prisoners, in the semi-finals. They then fell at the last hurdle against Czech team DHL Prague 3-1 in the final. They returned to action in the 2009 Amsterdam Fives where they were outstanding in the group phase winning 10 points out of 12 to take Group A (only a 1-1 draw with the CSF prevented a 100% record) before a surprise Cup quarter-final exit.

Their next appearance was at the 2011 Mallorca Tournament where they finished 3 rd in their 6-team group. They went on to the Plate Semi-Finals where they lost narrowly (2-1) to eventual winners FC Dukesfield. After Mallorca, was the 2014 Berlin Fives where 3 wins out of 4 in the group stage saw them qualify for the Cup before they succumbed to the eventual champions, Hasanheide Hotspur, in the Quarter-Finals.

The 2016 Budapest Fives followed where they drew a tough group that featured 3 x eurofootballfives.com winners CIS Committee (Blr) and 2 x eurofootballfives.com winners Budapest Celtic (Hun). They finished 4th to qualify for the Plate competition. They beat Maverick FC 4-1 in the Quarter-Finals before succumbing to Budapest Celtic who they met again in the Semi-Finals. 2017 saw them compete at the Vilnius Tournament where they finished 3 rd of 5 teams with 1 win and 2 draws in their 4 fixtures. In the knock-out phase they beat AFC Shooters A 2-1 in the Quarter-Finals, 2-0 against VSG United in the Semi-Finals and met LMH FC in the final. They lost 1-0 in the final to pick-up runners-up medals for the second time in their eurofootballfives.com careers.

Last year saw a trip to Riga in 2018. They found it tough in the group phase with four defeats on the bounce as they finished in fifth position. They would play in our Wooden Spoon competition where they lost 4-2 to Stag Park Rangers.

A second appearance in 2018 saw a second visit to Mallorca. The group phase saw them collect 1 win, 1 draw and 3 defeats as they finished 5 th in the Group B table where they qualified for the Plate. A 1-0 win in the Semi-Finals over Purnell Youth 1 set up a final against Fiorentina Turner 2 which they lost 3-1.

Back to 2019 and with the match underway it was Tas Radim of 3 Lions Touching Cloth who opened the scoring. It was his first of the tournament. At the other end there was a second clean sheet which helped them to a 1-0 win.
