At the start of Round 6 we had Deportivo Dooradoyle versus Expats FC Paris. For Deportivo Dooradoyle this was their final chance to put points on the board. A win here would see them on to 12 points which would almost certainly be enough to qualify for the Cup.

Expats FC Paris were just one position and two points behind their opponents in the table. A win for the French based team would put them in a prime position to secure Cup qualification of their own.

In terms of form, Deportivo Dooradoyle had gone W-W-L-W-L. In comparison, Expats FC Paris were D-W-W-L.

As you can see, both teams came into the game on the back of a defeat. It was Expats FC Paris who returned to winning ways though. The hero of the hour was Michael Walne whose goal ensured it would be the French who took all 3 points.

Deportivo Dooradoyle would go on to slip down the table as the teams around them collected points from their games in hand. Deportivo Dooradoyle progressed to the Plate.

Tom's Mum Is A Tramp FC were 4 defeats from 4 games. The last thing they needed was to play against a Skidmarks team who had one of the best records in the group phase of our tournaments of any team. Before today, it read:

Valencia Fives 2011: 4 4-0-0 21-4 12 (1st)

Krakow Trophy 2012: 4 2-2-0 9-6 8 (2nd)

Mallorca Fives 2013: 5 3-2-0 11-3 11 (2nd)

Budapest Fives 2014: 5 3-2-0 12-2 11 (1st)

Bratislava Fives 2014: 5 3-1-1 7-2 10 (1st)

Algarve Open 2015: 5 2-2-1 4-3 8 (4th)

Barcelona Fives 2016: 7 6-0-1 19-4 18 (1st)

Vilnius Tournament 2017: 4 3-0-1 10-4 9 (2nd)

Amsterdam Fives 2018: 5 4-0-1 8-4 12 (1st)

Overall: 44 30-9-5 101-32 99

Whilst it looked like a 6th group win may be beyond them today, Cup qualification was still a definite possibility. They had won their last two games and were coming into form.

They put Tom's Mum Is A Tramp FC to the sword in this one. Jamie De Winter (x2), Luke Hatfield (x4) and Ashley Britten all scored in a comprehensive 7-0 win. Skidmarks were up to second in the table.

Game 18 of Group A was between Budapest Celtic Lions and Meglepetes. There was quite a bit of history between these two teams:

2013: Meglepetes 1-2 Budapest Celtic Lions (Group)

2013: Meglepetes 2-1 Budapest Celtic Tigers (Plate Quarter-Final)

2014: Meglepetes 0-1 Budapest Celtic Lions (Group)

2014: Budapest Celtic Panthers 3*-3 Meglepetes (Plate Semi-Finals, * won on penalties)

2015: Budapest Celtic Pumas 2-4 Meglepetes (Group)

2016: Budapest Celtic Greens 1-1 Meglepetes (Group)

2016: Meglepetes 3-1 Budapest Celtic Greens (Cup Final)

2017: Meglepetes 0-0 Budapest Celtic Greens (Group)

Meglepetes had won 3, drawn 3 and lost 2 but not since 2014. Meglepetes were the stand out team in Group A so far with 4 wins out of 4.

They fell behind though to a Dancho Ospagambetov goal. It was a vital goal for Budapest Celtic Lions as they really needed 3 points to reach the Cup. They couldn't hold out though as Meglepetes equalized through Roland Czeroczki scored his second of the day to make it 1-1. Meglepetes remained unbeaten but their 100% record had gone.
