Round 3 started with FC Shaolin Badgers versus GSF Drunkerz. FC Shaolin Badgers had just had the one fixture so far where they had picked up a 1-0 defeat. GSF Drunkerz had played twice – drawn 1, lost 1. They both had a goal difference of -1 at kick-off. We expected a close game.

In the previous game, GSF Drunkerz had seen their run of 12 group games and 18 games unbeaten overall in our tournaments come to an end. Their haul of 1 point from a possible 6 represented their slowest start to a eurofootballfives.com tournament yet. How would they respond?

Pretty well was the answer. They scored their first goal of the day thanks to a strike from Jozef Virdzek. At the other end there was a second shut out for Miroslav Saga in between the posts for the Slovakians.

It was a tough result for FC Shaolin Badgers, it was a second 1-0 defeat but there was still time for the English team to kickstart their challenge.

World Pinteur were making their third eurofootballfives.com appearance. They were so close to making it a winning start when they competed at the 2016 Lisbon Tournament. In Group A they recorded 4 wins out of 4 with 6 goals scored and 0 conceded. They met Fundacao Benfica in the Cup Semi-Finals and won the game 1-0. They then met Parques Tejo in the Cup Final. They won 2-0 against them in the group phase and were 2-0 up in the final before Parques Tejo pegged back the French to 2-2. The 2016 Lisbon Tournament would be determined on penalties and it was the Portuguese who were victorious, 2-0 in the shoot-out.

They returned to action for the 2018 Riga Tournament and were drawn in a very tight group. They opened up with a 2-2 draw with Colonel Getafe before their first win of the day (3-0) versus Stag Park Rangers. They then finished the group with two draws 1-1 versus Paralytic Athletic U23's and 0-0 versus Shahs of Sunset. They finished in second place to qualify for the Cup. Their day ended after a 2-1 defeat to Lithuania's Lilchicago in the Quarter-Finals.

So far today they were unbeaten with 4 points from 6. They were to stretch that run to 5 points from 9 with Alexandre Braud still to concede a goal. At the other end, Gary Hatfield kept a clean sheet for 3 Lions Touching Cloth who put their first point on the board.

To complete Round 3 was Mamarre FC versus Fiorentina Turner. Both teams had a 100% record – Mamarre FC had an enviable CV today of 2 wins from 2 games. Fiorentina Turner had played 2, lost 2. On paper this looked like a banker home win.

On the pitch the respective form of the two teams continued. Mamarre FC had been excellent so far and were yet to concede a goal. Alessio Zianni had so far kept two clean sheets and that was soon to be three games in a row.

With everything tight at the back, Mamarre FC were getting full value for their goals at the other end. Daniel Sanchez was the match winner in their previous game and he was on target again here to break the deadlock. At this stage Mamarre FC were on course for a third successive 1-0 win. Mamarre FC were to increase their lead though this time thanks to Ali Kazemi. He scored twice as Mamarre FC ran out 3-0 winners.
