The
2014 Budapest Fives was our fourth annual 5-a-side
football tournament in this great Hungarian city
and it proved to be one of the best tournaments
we've ever had with 24 teams assembling to battle
it out for the title.
CIS Committee claimed their first victory following
a Cup Semi Final in the 2011 Prague Masters. They
defeated Argentina (Arg) in the Cup Final that
went right down to the wire with penalties needed
to separate the two teams.
The Plate Final was contested by two regular teams
- Budapest Celtic Tigers and FC Radbroke. Two-times
Cup Winners FC Radbroke (Prague Masters 2011,
Algarve Open 2013) edged it 3-2 as they added
a Plate Trophy to their collection. For Budapest
Celtic Tigers it was a third set of Runners-Up
medals in four years.
The tournament marked eurofootballfives.com's
third 24-team event (after 2012 Berlin Fives and
2012 Valencia Fives) and saw our fourth ever "Trophy"
tournament (there was also 25-teams in Barcelona
2013).. This was a third tier competition within
the tournament to complement our traditional "Cup"
and "Plate" competitions. The Trophy
Final was won by Contejus Hurricanes defeating
Cava Sundays 2-1 to take the Trophy honours. It
was their second success after the 2012 Algarve
Open Plate victory.
