Johnsbridge
FC and Cava Sundays went into their final fixtures
both needing victory. Johnsbridge FC needed
to better the result of the A Team to qualify
for the Cup. If they matched the A Team result
then it would come down to goal difference.
An inferior result would mean the A Team qualify
– BUT – the A Team had CIS to play!
Cava
Sundays could make the Plate competition but
it would take a big push from them. Budapest
Celtic Pumas draw in the previous match meant
Cava Sundays had to win and win by 4 goals to
reach the Plate by levelling goal difference
and going through on goals scored. They desperately
needed an early goal to get the ball rolling.
The
early goal was not forthcoming and we reached
half-time all square at 0-0. As time went on
Cava Sundays hopes were diminishing and it was
becoming a question of could Johnsbridge FC
find the goal they needed to push their claims
for the Cup. Cometh the hour, cometh the man
and that man was Kirpal Sadheura with his third
goal of the tournament. It would earn his team
a 1-0 victory.
Cava
Sundays would join Stanford FC in the Trophy.
Johnsbridge FC would hope CIS could maintain
their winning streak so they would qualify for
the Cup.
