The
second final of the day would see FC Radbroke
versus Budapest Celtic Panthers. With seven games
of football already under their belt the two teams
would need to summon one last burst of energy
to ensure they would be picking up winners and
not runners-up medals in the presentation.
FC
Radbroke were used to these pressure situations
with Cup wins in the 2011 Prague Masters and 2013
Algarve Open. Was there room for the 2014 Budapest
Fives Plate in their trophy cabinet? The Panthers
were on debut but Budapest Celtic had experience
at this level before – only two weeks ago the
Tigers squad played in the 2014 Valencia Fives
Plate Final. They finished Runners-Up – could
the Panthers go one better?
FC
Radbroke could well have a score to settle as
it was the Budapest Celtic Tigers squad that prevented
them qualifying for the Cup. Would the Panthers
feel the backlash? Enough of the questions, let's
look at how the game played out. An epic first
half saw 4 goals with the teams level pegging
at 2-2. Etienne Jouffret (5 for the tournament)
and Bastien Morel (6 for the tournament) scored
the goals for the Panthers. Mike Brandon scored
both for FC Radbroke.
In
the second half a penalty for FC Radbroke looked
like giving them the chance to seal victory but
fresh from his Semi-Final penalty shoot-out heroics
Lazarescu saved Mike Brandon's spot kick to prevent
his hat-trick. Mike Brandon would not have to
wait too long to complete his personal achievement
and bring with it glory for his team. He completed
his hat-trick and with it sealed the Plate victory
for FC Radbroke. He came into his own in the latter
half of the tournament and finished on 7 goals
for the tournament. The 2013 Algarve Open top
goalscorer only narrowly missed out on the same
accolade here in Budapest due to countback.
We
offer our consolations to Budapest Celtic Panthers
on a fine debut campaign. Our 2014 Budapest Fives
Plate Winners though – FC Radbroke!
