We were down to the final four teams in our Trophy competition and first up was Cava Sundays versus FC Dad. FC Dad were on a run of two wins in two games and were on an upward trend. It was reminiscent of their ascent to the 2012 Valencia Fives Trophy Final where their form picked up at just the right time.

Trying to prevent them reaching their 2nd Trophy Final was Cava Sundays. On debut in our tournaments they were entering unchartered territory. Cava Sundays were playing well though so should have had no fears.

With the game underway it soon became apparent this was going to be a very tight fixture. The game was end to end and both teams looked capable of winning but defences were generally on top. Half-time score, 0-0.

After the break the pattern continued and it would be a brave man to pick a winner. Ultimately, the game was decided on one moment of real quality. Dan Hutchinson was sent through the middle and he calmly rounded the keeper and finished from coolly from a decreasing angle. It was a well-taken goal that would see Cava Sundays into the Trophy Final.

It was tournament over for FC Dad and they would miss out on an FC Dad / FC Maroon final. However, they still had their sister squad to cheer on.

So, who would meet Cava Sundays in the Final? Would it be FC Maroon for a first European Final or Contejus Hurricanes for their second?

FC Maroon as we touched on before were the favourites in this competition with the best group record of the teams but Contejus Hurricanes had been here before and knew what it took to go all the way in a knock-out competition. That experience may have been pivotal as it was Contejus Hurricanes who opened the scoring with Thomas Lock scoring his third of the tournament.

FC Maroon had one half of football to rescue their quest for glory and avoid matching their sister squad by going out at the same stage. If their task was a tough one at the start of the second half it got even more difficult when Joe Latimer's goal made it 2-0 to Contejus Hurricanes.

As it proved, there was no way back for FC Maroon. It was farewell to both them and FC Dad. As ever, these two teams were great value on tour and we look forward to seeing them again sometime soon.
