As we entered the final Round of games it was do or die for the teams in reaching the knock-out stages. LITS must have wondered how they only had 6 points from their games so far despite being unbeaten but it meant their fate was out of their own hands. All they could do was win their last game, move onto 9 points and into 1st place (temporarily at least) and hope other results would go their way.

They had no easy task though as they met Argentina who were currently in third position. Argentina started off superbly with a win against FC Radbroke but since then the form had tailed off a little with a draw, narrow win over the bottom club and defeat in the last game. They needed to bounce back to take 3 points and go top themselves.

Argentina hit the front in this game as Ashkan Ahadi gave his side a 1-0 lead at half-time with his fourth strike of the day. Mitchell Pomfret and Rodrigo De O Belichar added to the Argentina goal tally in the second half. John Briston scored for LITS but it was not enough to prevent them slipping to 3-1 defeat.

The result meant that LITS would certainly finish 4th and progress to the Plate. For Argentina it put them top of Group C on 10 points. With their two nearest challengers currently on 8 points and due to play each other it meant that Argentina would definitely be playing Cup football this afternoon.

Old Man Hortors Revival met FC Dad in the penultimate game of Group C. We already knew that both these teams would be playing in the Trophy this afternoon but there was still much to play for in this game – pride, 5 th position and a theoretically easier Quarter-Final. The winner of the game would finish in 5th. A draw would see Old Man Hortors Revival take 5 th and FC Dad in 6th .

FC Dad struck first in the opening period as Graham Dodds opened his personal account for the day. It was only the fourth goal that Old Man Hortors Revival had conceded (the same number as the teams in 2nd to 4th position) but the lack of firepower up front had held back their progress today. They were yet to score and would have to put that right in the second half to get anything from this game.

The goals remained elusive for Old Man Hortors Revival and FC Dad completed the first victory of the day. They jumped ahead of their opponents into 5th place – a good way to end the group phase.

That left us with Budapest Celtic Tigers versus FC Radbroke to wrap up Group C. This was more a less a knock-out game as it would be winner takes all. The winner of the game would not only secure Cup qualification but would take the Group C title. A draw would see FC Radbroke finish second courtesy of their superior goal difference and play in the Cup.

The onus was really on Budapest Celtic Tigers to go for the win and this may play to the strengths of FC Radbroke. We've seen in previous tournaments they are very adept and defending solidly and hitting their opponents on the break. You sensed that FC Radbroke were just gaining momentum with results going 1-1, 0-0, 1-0, 6-1 – they were moving through the gears.

However, Budapest Celtic Tigers would be no pushovers. They were also unbeaten and came into the game on the back of a superb win over Argentina. It was going to be a tough game to call but you felt the first goal would be crucial. It was the home team who struck first as Preben Johansem scored such a valuable goal. It was 1-0 at half-time.

FC Radbroke had to score or their Cup hopes were over. They had qualified for the Cup in all 5 previous eurofootballfives.com competitions and that proud record was in jeopardy now. Andris Szabu scored his second of the day for the Budapest Celtic Tigers in the second half – it sealed a 2-0 victory, Cup qualification and the Group C title. FC Radbroke would finish third and qualify for the Plate competition.
