It was 2nd versus 4th at the start of Round 3 with The A Team meeting Johnsbridge FC. For the winners there was a chance to be right in the mix of the qualification places and for the A Team it could see them hit the summit of Group A.

The A Team were so far unbeaten but Johnsbridge FC would represent a tough task. The English team came into the game on the back of a win and would look to carry that momentum into this fixture….and that they did.

Johnsbridge FC hit the front in the first half as Oliver Salveson opened the scoring. The A Team were unable to hit back before half-time as Johnsbridge FC would begin the second half in the ascendency. The A Team were free-scoring in Round 1 (4 goals) but had drawn a blank in their last outing. They would need to find their shooting boots to get back into this. The second goal of the game though was turned in by Kirpal Sadheura as Johnsbridge FC extended their lead.

It was a huge result in the context of the group. Johnsbridge FC were the big winners of this round of fixtures climbing from 4th to 2nd in the table.

Budapest Celtic Pumas were in action again as they took their unbeaten record to CIS Committee. The team from Belarus were not only unbeaten but had a 100% record. It was getting crowded at the top with The A Team and Johnsbridge FC right in the mix so this was promising to be a vital game in the Group A proceedings.

So, could CIS Committee make it 3 wins out of 3 and keep their grip firmly on Group A? The game was taking a familiar pattern as for the third game in a row Vitali Ledenev scored in the opening period and for the third game in a row they lead 1-0 at half-time.

So far, CIS Committee had turned 1-0 at half-time until 2-0 at full-time so Budapest Celtic Pumas had quite a task ahead of them. They did manage to prevent CIS Committee extending their lead but they were unable to breach their opponents defence and the game ended 1-0.

CIS Committee opened up a 3 point lead at the top of Group A. The Pumas found themselves in 4th position but with two games left still very much in the running for Cup qualification.

To complete Round 3 was Cava Sundays versus Stanford FC. It was still possible for these teams to make the Cup but they would have to win all their remaining games. Arguably more importantly it was a chance to score their first goals, register their first points and possibly their first victory. A win would put them just 3 points off 2 nd place.

A draw would not be much good for either side in the general scheme of things but it could act as a catalyst for future success. A draw was on the cards at half-time as the teams turned around all level at 0-0. In the second period we were to witness a breakthrough as Dan Hutchinson scored the first goal on tour for Cava Sundays. It was a crucial goal as it handed his team a 1-0 victory.

Could that be the kickstart Cava Sundays needed? They would have two games to go. For Stanford FC it was heartbreak as despite improving performances they remained rooted to the foot of Group A.
