As we entered the final Round of games it was do or die for the teams in reaching the knock-out stages. Not so much for RS Ocean Village FC who met FC Contejus Hurricanes. We already knew that both these teams would be playing in the Trophy this afternoon but there was still much to play for in this game – pride, 5th position and a theoretically easier Quarter-Final. There was also getting the monkey off the back of getting a positive result and breaking the scoring duck. The winner of the game would finish in 5th. A draw would see Contejus Hurricanes take 5th and FC Dad in 6th .

At half-time the two teams were closer to getting their first points of the group but not their first goals. The half-time whistle blew and we were at 0-0. In the second half Contejus Hurricanes erupted in celebration as Thomas Lock bagged his team's first of the day.

They were to be denied victory though as Akbar Shah broke his own team's duck to grab an equalizer and perhaps it was fitting that this game ended in a draw. Final score, 1-1.

Meglepetes met Bozeat FC met in the penultimate game of Group D. The last thing these teams needed was a draw as it would condemn them to 3rd and 4th positions respectively and both teams proceeding to the Plate competition. If there was to be a winner then the victor would move on to 10 points and hope there was a decisive result in the final game between Skidmarks and Budapest Celtic Lions. They would then be level with the loser of that game and goal difference would come in to play. The two teams therefore needed to win and win big or hope one of the above teams would lose big. There were so many permutations that the teams just had to go out and play and hope their efforts were good enough.

The two teams had met before in Group B just 12 months ago and they drew on that occasion, 2-2. In today's game it was Meglepetes who struck first through Josef Szekely. They doubled their advantage after half-time when Szekely scored again. Will Arnold pulled one back to make it 2-1 and was another 2-2 on the cards? Not today, Meglepetes had enough in the tank to see out the victory.

The result ensured Bozeat FC would play in the Plate. Meglepetes now had to watch the last game eagerly for their fate.

That left us with Budapest Celtic Lions versus Skidmarks to wrap up Group D. The teams could settle for a draw and then each team would go through on 11 points each with Skidmarks crowned champions. A win for either team would see them go through as champions. The losers would then be level with Meglepetes and it would be down to goal difference. Meglepetes were finished on +5, Skidmarks were currently on +10 and the Lions on +4. It was therefore imperative for the Lions not to lose to make it through. Skidmarks had a little margin of error to play with.

The first half came and went with the scores level at 0-0. The result suited both teams and if they could keep this up they were through. Another half of football later and we still had no goals to show for our efforts and we finished all square at 0-0. The conspiracy theorists would have been out (especially in the Meglepetes camp) but there was no question of both teams putting in full and proper effort.

Skidmarks went through as champions, Budapest Celtic Lions followed them in second and Meglepetes were into the Plate in 3rd position for the second year in a row.
