Group C was really hotting up as we entered Round 5. Match 10 of the group was Old Man Hortors Revival against LITs. Old Man Hortors Revival had started well enough with a point in the opening game but had since slipped to two defeats. They needed to arrest this slide to advance their challenge for the Cup (outside bet) but more realistically the Plate.

LITS had also started well with a win and they remained unbeaten but two draws meant they were in a dogfight to advance from Group C into the Cup competition – at the moment it was two teams from a possible four. A win here would put them in pole position and see them go top.

This game was another close contest and whilst both teams boasted good defensive records it was goal-scoring that had limited their further advances. This trend continued in this game. Both teams were solid at the back and in the end a draw was probably about right. The game finished 0-0.

It was a result that didn't really help either team. Old Man Hortors Revival remained in 5th. LITS moved into sole occupancy of second position but the teams around them now had a game in hand.

Not only did the above result give the chasing pack hope but it gave Argentina a chance to wrap up Cup qualification with a game to spare. Their next game was against Budapest Celtic Tigers. At the start of Round 4 these teams were 1st and 2nd so represented a top of the table clash.

A win for either would see the victor top on their own. A draw would see Argentina retain top-spot, Budapest Celtic Tigers joint second with LITS and the door opened for FC Radbroke. A defeat would be a real blow (although not fatal) for the Cup hopes of the loser.

We reached the now customary half-time score of 0-0 so it was all to play for after the break. In the end just one goal would decide it and the goal was scored by Jakob Binder of Budapest Celtic Tigers. It was a superb victory for them and their reward was going top of Group C – a point ahead of Argentina. Things were getting very interesting.

FC Radbroke, fresh from their first win, would take on FC Dad. It was becoming crunch time in Group C and a win here would be like gold dust for FC Radbroke – they could join Budapest Celtic Tigers at the summit of Group C. FC Dad had proved in the last game against Argentina that although they propped up the table they were no pushovers.

That game may have taken a bit out of FC Dad as they slipped to a 2-0 deficit by half-time. We've touched upon the fact that Group C was a very close affair and in such groups goal difference can often be a decisive factor. Maybe sensing this FC Radbroke put FC Dad to the sword in the second half and not only moved joint top but established the best goal difference in the group in the process.

The goals were shared around with Mike Brandon (2), Pete Armstrong (2), Ray McDonald and Pete Cox all finding the net. There was a consolation goal for FC Dad from Calum Jones. Final score, 6-1.

The result was just what FC Radbroke needed – and just what FC Dad didn't as we now advanced into the final round of fixtures.
