As we entered the final Round of games it was do or die for the teams in reaching the knock-out stages. We had a massive game on Pitch A with Team Extreme versus Krakowcaine. It was first versus third with second place Fiorentina Turner 2 waiting in the wings to displace whichever team(s) slipped up here. What did the two teams need to do?

Team Extreme just (just) needed to avoid defeat to qualify for the Cup. A win would ensure they would be Group C champions bar a massive win for Fiorentina Turner 2. A draw would leave the door open for Fiorentina Turner 2 to win the group. A defeat would see Krakowcaine climb above them and they would then have to hope for a Fiorentina Turner 2 defeat to qualify in second.

Krakowcaine simply had to win. They were 2 points behind the teams above them. If Fiorentina Turner 2 also won then the English team would be champions. If Fiorentina Turner 2 drew or lost then a win for Krakowcaine would see the Swiss as Group C winners.

A surprise defeat to Good Latitude last time out had put Krakowcaine in this sticky situation. In the group phase of our tournaments they had gone 9 games unbeaten (7 wins, 2 draws) until that 2-0 loss. They responded well initially with a Nacho Mochales goal putting the Swiss 1-0 up.

The goal machine that was Team Extreme then roared into action. Antonio Vernaschi equalized for 1-1 before an own goal put them ahead at 2-1. Dave Cole's fourth of the tournament put them 3-1 up and Krakowcaine were in trouble. The game was up at 4-1 (Antonio Vernaschi) and the final nail in the coffin when Vernashi completed his hat-trick for 5-1.

Team Extreme were Group C champions – a superb performance from them.

T Bashers entered Round 7 of Group C knowing it would be their final game in their tournament. They currently sat in 8th and were unable to catch the 6 th placed team. Could they end on a high and maybe lift themselves off the foot of the table?

Their opponents would be Gintam. Gintam currently sat in seventh position but a win for them would see them qualify for the Trophy as the two teams above them (by just 1 point) were due to play each other.

So, what did happen in this final game? Well, T Bashers left it late but they finally got a win under their belts. A Louis Broad goal (his second of the tournament) and a first clean sheet for his team meant T Bashers finished with a flourish. They would exit the tournament but they would leave in good spirits (and maybe with a sense of what might have been).

For Gintam it was disappointment in this particular fixture as it was a chance missed to qualify for the Trophy competition. We thank them for joining eurofootballfives.com for their debut tournament. Hopefully the first of many.

The final Group C game on Pitch C would be Good Latitude versus Fiorentina Turner 2. What was as stake for these two teams?

Good Latitude (Eng): They needed a win to secure Plate qualification in fourth position. They were unlikely to move up to third unless Krakowcaine lost and there was a 7 goal swing in goal difference. If Gintam failed to win then Good Latitude would qualify for the Plate regardless of the result here.

Fiorentina Turner 2 (Eng): If Krakowcaine failed to win then Fiorentina Turner 2 would qualify for the Cup. They could win Group C if they won and Team Extreme failed to win. If Fiorentina Turner 2 and Team Extreme both won then Fiorentina Turner 2 would have to win by 6 more than Team Extreme to be champions.

Along with Team Extreme, Fiorentina Turner 2 were the form team in Group C. Both these teams had won four games in a row and were looking to head into the Cup competition with realistic hopes of becoming 2017 Barcelona Fives champions.

Good Latitude had won 2, then drawn, then lost two games. They had just returned to winning ways with a great win over Krakowcaine. Another upset here (in terms of league positions) would be a great way to sign off in Group C but maybe induce a bit of regret for those results in Rounds 3-5.

Good Latitude scored the opening goal of the game with Enrique Martinez on target again. Fiorentina Turner 2 would get back into the game with an equalizer awarded to Jonas Kihlstrom by the referee. At 1-1 it was game on again. Enrique Martinez was his team's top scorer today and he added a second to restore Good Latitude's lead at 2-1.

That is how it finished and Good Latitude ended Group C with two stunning wins. Fiorentina Turner 2 whilst obviously disappointed with the result could console themselves in the fact that Krakowcaine had lost. Fiorentina Turner 2 would be one of the eight elite teams competing for the 2017 Barcelona Fives Cup win.

That left us with Tysers versus Ze'Argon to wrap up proceedings in Group C. This game was effectively a winner takes all in terms of qualifying for the Trophy competition. Ze'Argon sat on 6 points with a goal difference of -11, Tysers also sat on 6 points with a goal difference of -10. The winner of this game would guarantee qualification. The loser would miss out if Gintam avoided defeat in their final game.

If Tysers and Ze'Argon drew then both would qualify if Gintam failed to win. If Gintam won then Ze'Argon would miss out on the Trophy on goal difference.

Benjamin Cahart had been the star man for Ze'Argon in front of goal today with 4 goals and he was to add another 2 to his collection here. His fifth and sixth of the day ensured Ze'Argon ran out 2-0 winners and would climb to fifth position in the final league standings.

The news was still positive for Tysers who, due to Gintam's loss versus T Bashers, would hang on to 6th place and qualify for the Trophy.
