The teams in Group C had seen those in Group A and Group B begin their campaigns. It was now time for the Group C teams to step onto the fields of play and have their turn in the spotlight. On Pitch A we began with Krakowcaine versus Fiorentina Turner 2.

Krakowcaine (Swi) made their debut earlier this year at the 2017 Krakow Trophy. They were the stand out team in the group phase as they secured 4 wins and 1 draw to secure the Group A title. It was a surprise when they were knocked out by Slovakia's GSF Drunkerz in the Cup Semi-Final (2-1). There was personal success for Nacho Mochales who was the tournament top goalscorer.

This therefore represented a difficult start for Fiorentina Turner 2 and the English team fell behind to a Nacho Mochales goal. Fiorentina Turner 2 were not behind for long as Tom Farrer equalised for 1-1.

Krakowcaine were back in front when Abdelkader Maroe scored for 2-1. They completed the victory when Eloy Rubio dashed any hopes of a Fiorentina Turner 2 comeback. Final score, 3-1.

On Pitch B we had Team Extreme versus Gintam. Team Extreme were experienced in our tournaments and were making their 6th appearance with us. Gintam were the new kids on the block making their debut.

Team Extreme had put in strong performances throughout the years in our events and last year they came extremely close to their first tournament win. At the 2016 Prague Tournament t hey won Group A with 4 wins and 1 draw to set up a Semi-Final with The A Team (who had previously reached 2 Cup Finals). A stunning 4-1 win set up a first Cup Final versus CIS Committee. It was a thrilling finale to the tournament but the team from Belarus edged it 3-2. The Prague win was CIS's third tournament win (they now have 4 having added the 2017 Vilnius Tournament title). Could Team Extreme go one stage further in Barcelona?

The early signs were promising when Antonio Vernaschi put Team Extreme 1-0 up. David Cole then increased the lead to 2-0 before Arnau Andres reduced the deficit to 2-1. Team Extreme stepped it up and restored the two goal lead with Antonio Vernaschi scoring again to complete the 3-1 win.

The teams to begin their campaign on Pitch C in Group C were T Bashers (Eng) and Ze'Argon (Fra).

T Bashers derived from the team that played as Yac Club at the 2016 Riga Tournament. They were drawn in a tough group in Latvia but enjoyed a good start with a 1-0 win over FC Maroon. They then suffered a 2-1 setback to Zemniecki but bounced back with a 6-1 win over The Crazy Gang. Defeats followed to FK Prienai (Ltu) and Melee FC (Eng) but they had done enough to finish fourth and qualify for the Plate. Unfortunately for them they could not change their mini run of form in the next phase as they went out to DHFC (who went on to win the Plate).

The T Bashers featured Alex Brown and William Tatlow with the core of the Yac Club squad appearing for sister squad P Slayers here in Barcelona. Ze'Argon were the second squad of the Argon'ze team (more on them later).

This game was to prove the closest of all the opening fixtures in Group C with just one goal separating the two teams. That goal went to Benjamin Cahart who earned all 3 points for the team from Paris.

We had two debutant teams getting their tournament challenge underway on Pitch D with Good Latitude versus Tysers. As they were making a first appearance in our tournaments, both teams had a blank canvas upon which to paint their footballing artistry. Let the games commence……

It was first blood to Good Latitude who opened the scoring through Enrique Martinez. He had the honour of scoring Good Latitude's first goal in European competition – one for the record books.

Good Latitude's pre-tournament plans were thrown into disarray when their squad of 7 was reduced to 4 fit and available players in the days leading up to the tournament. Fortunately, we were able to arrange a couple of loan signings on the eve of the tournament so Good Latitude could fulfil their place in the tournament draw.

It was one of those loan signings, Dani (not the one who used to play for West Ham), who doubled the lead and helped Good Latitude to a 2-0 win.
