The start of Round 3 was a false start as it was to be the scheduled fixture of Fiorentina Turner 1 versus Prospe FC. We awarded the 3-0 walkover to Fiorentina Turner 1 and quickly move on to the game on Pitch B (see below).

Group B had been dealing purely in wins so far. With the 9 results we've seen so far all were victories without a draw in sight. That would be a trend that continued on Pitch B in the match between Fail Madrid 2 and CAP FC.

These two teams met in the group phase of the 2016 Riga Tournament. They met in Round 4 and played out a 2-2 draw with Richard Beet scoring twice for CAP FC and Robert Maller scoring twice for Fail Madrid. Neither of those two men were in action in this game today (although Robert Maller was appearing in Group D for the Fail Madrid 1 team).

Goals would need to come from elsewhere and it was Matt Evans who duly obliged to give CAP FC the lead. In the contest between these two teams in Riga it was CAP FC who took the lead twice and Fail Madrid who pegged them back each time. If Fail Madrid 2 were to peg back CAP FC here in Barcelona they would then need to do it from 2-0 down as Pat Townson increased the CAP FC lead.

The victory was sealed when Fenton Cayless headed in at the back post from a throw-in as his team picked up their first 3 points of the day.

Up next in Group B was LT United versus Galacticos. This looked to be a really tasty encounter. LT United had looked hugely impressive as they defeated Fiorentina Turner 1 in Round 1. Galacticos had two wins from two and were yet to concede a goal. Both teams were part of a three-way tie at the top of Group B.

Galacticos were returning to eurofootballfives.com action for their fourth European campaign with us. In Round 2, we touched upon their performance here at the 2009 Barca Fives (100% group record, Cup Semi-Final). They were equally as impressive in the 2010 Valencia Fives where, in the group of death, they finished 2nd to Futbol City. The same opposition prevented them taking all the glory as they met again in the Cup Final with the Spanish winning 5-1.

They then appeared at the 2013 Algarve Open and were on good form again. 4 wins out of 5 saw them win Group B on 12 points. They drew their Quarter-Final, 0-0, against Portuguese side Sergio Cristina but missed out on the next phase 3-2 on penalties.

It was the English team who kept their good run going this morning. This was a game between two good sides but it was Galacticos who emerged victorious. Just the one goal would settle it – the hero of the hour was Yaaseen Patel. It was his second of the tournament and what a vital goal it was. Final score, 1-0.

To complete Round 3 we had a mouth-watering contest – it was one of the 3 teams at the top of the table with a 100% record (Naranjitos) against a team just 1 win behind in the form of Argon'ze of France. This was a potentially historic game for Naranjitos as they could secure 10 group victories in a row at the Barcelona Fives.

Argon'ze came into the game on the back of a 4-0 defeat to Galacticos and this represented a really tough fixture in which to try and bounce back. Their task got even harder when Juan Jose Garcia put the Spanish team 1-0 up.

Naranjitos were yet to concede a goal in their opening two games which showed the size of the task facing Argon'ze. They would need two goals just to get level after David Moya Aparicio's fourth goal of the morning made it 2-0. Alvar Diez Benavente wrapped up the victory with a third.

When the final whistle blew the score remained 3-0 and it was Naranjitos who had their 100% record intact. They lead the way in Group B with Galacticos.
