Round 2 started with Fiorentina Turner 2 versus Team Extreme. Team Extreme picked up a first win in Round 1 (3-1) and were back in the lead here in Round 2 when Antonio Vernaschi scored his third goal in the early stages of his tournament.

When Team Extreme competed at the 2016 Prague Tournament they had two teams. They had their core “Team Extreme” and they had a second squad – for the record this squad was called Fiorentina Turner! The 2016 Team Extreme version of Fiorentina Turner finished 5 th in their 6 team group and were knocked out at the end of the group phase.

The 2017 Barcelona Fives Fiorentina Turner version of Fiorentina Turner (if you know what I mean) looked to be made of sterner stuff. They equalized through Tom Farrer to make it 1-1. Fiorentina Turner 2 then took the lead through Alex Villers. It was proving to be a remarkable comeback as Alex Villers added another to make it 3-1.

The game was swung back in the balance when Chika Kalu made it 3-2. Fiorentina Turner 2 had done enough to pick up all 3 points. They had responded well to opening game defeat and had their first win in Europe.

Game 6 of Group C was to be Ze'Argon (Fra) versus Gintam (Spa).

Argon'ze made their debut at the 2016 Barcelona Fives. They finished in 5th position to qualify for the Trophy knock-out phase where they departed at the Quarter-Final stage due to a 4-1 defeat to Spanish side Bolivar.

They then took 2 teams to the 2017 Mallorca Fives where the Ze'Argon squad was born as the second sister squad. In Mallorca, the Ze'Argon team finished 4th of 6 teams in Group B with 1 win, 1 draw and 3 defeats. They drew 1-1 with Mannenliefde in the Quarter-Finals before exiting the tournament on penalties.

Here at the 2017 Barcelona Fives tournament they had begun with a 1-0 victory. Gintam had slipped to a defeat first time out but it was the Spanish debutants who went ahead here. Arnau Andres scored for the second game in a row to give the Barcelona based team the lead.

The 3 points were sealed when Carlos Sagarra doubled the lead and the 2-0 victory was complete.

The next match on Pitch C in Group C was Tysers versus Krakowcaine. Tysers were looking to bounce back from opening game defeat to Good Latitude. Krakowcaine were aiming to make it 2 wins from 2 games and lead Group C.

The Krakowcaine squad of 7 featured five players from the squad that had done so well at the Krakow Trophy back in May. Two of those players were responsible for the goals here that saw off the challenge of Tysers.

Hector Navarro scored the opener in this game for Krakowcaine before Eloy Rubio made it 2-0. Dan Green then scored Tysers first goal in Europe to reduce the deficit to 2-1.

Eloy Rubio then scored again to restore the two goal lead for the Swiss team and make it 3-1. His two goals in this game equaled his tally overall from Krakow. He then went on to complete his hat-trick and make the game safe as Krakowcaine ran out 4-1 winners.

To complete Round 2 we had Good Latitude versus T Bashers. This was game 8 of Group B – after game 6 it looked like we could be heading for 8 teams all level on 3 points at the end of Round 2 as on pitches A and B the first round losers picked up wins over first round victors. Krakowcaine's win (see above) ended that and they were 3 points clear on 6 points. Good Latitude could join them with a win here. The flip side of the coin was that a T Bashers win could mean they would be one of 6 teams sharing second place on 3 points.

There was good news for Good Latitude fans and bad news for T Bashers fans as the aforementioned team were amongst the goals here. Marcus Pitts scored his first of the tournament to break the deadlock. Enrique Martinez then made it 2-0 with his second in as many games. Dani was also on the scoresheet for the second game in a row as he made it 3-0.

There was also a clean sheet for loan signing Jack. It was two wins out of two for Good Latitude – easy this eurofootballfives lark, eh?
