The start of Round 3 was the biggest game of Group A to date. When the tournament draw was made, based on previous tournament appearances, it looked like L'Albiceleste and Spider Mans & Eagle would be the two teams to beat in order to qualify for the Cup. So far both teams had lived up to that billing with a 100% record to date.

The game itself was a cracker. We expected this game to be a close one and usually these games can be low-scoring but we had goals galore here. It was also particularly one-sided after the early exchanges as the French team got off to a flyer. Thibaut Gall, making his debut for L'Albiceleste, contributed with two goals to put them in the ascendency. The game looked done and dusted when Cedric Castarede made it 3-0 but that is only half the story.

Ryan Stevens pulled a goal back to make it 3-1. It was a landmark goal for him as it took him to 30 in eurofootballfives.com competition. It was also a landmark goal for his team as it sparked a sensational comeback. Nick McIntosh scored his second of the tournament to reduce the deficit to 3-2. Richard Eggleston then added his second in as many games to level it up at 3-3.

The game ended with honours even both in this fixture and also in the context of the group as the teams ended Round 3 in first and second position.

Fylingdales FC (Eng) played in the 2013 Barcelona Fives and drew Group E which featured the Plate winners The Depo All Stars, 2 x Plate Runners-up and 1 time Trophy Runners-up Drunk Perfect, Plate Runners-Up JF and the Pullbacks plus Elcombe Old Boys who have a record of just 2 defeats in 19 games in Barcelona. RAF Fylingdales went out in the Trophy Play-off 3-0 to ADP Dream Team (Spa).

They returned to eurofootballfives.com action at the 2016 Riga Tournament. They got off to a good start with 4 points from the first 6 available having drawn 1-1 with Saga Louts and defeating It's Back, 2-0. A narrow 3-2 defeat followed to FC Dad before another 1-1 draw with Cruz Del Sur B. Leilupe won the group with a 100% record and RAF Fylingdales just went down, 3-2, in their final group game. They finished 4th and progressed to the Plate. They won 6-3 against Latvian side Zemniecki in the Quarter-Finals before going down to Plate winners DHFC, 4-1.

They were up against a Sigurdsson's Advice Bureau team who had picked up a 3-0 victory in the opening round before a 2-0 defeat last time out at the hands of Spider Mans & Eagle.

Fylingdales FC took the lead in this one with Gaz McColl scoring their first goal in action. Sigurdsson's Advice Bureau were also looking to get off the mark in the goal-scoring stakes and they did thanks to Gavin Whitby-Lear. The game appeared to be heading towards a 1-1 draw but it was not to be. A strike with the last kick of the game from Richard Munday handed all 3 points to Sigurdsson's Advice Bureau. Final score 2-1 and what an end to the game.

The next game in Round 3 was CBD Boys versus Leek High Boys. Both teams needed goals and points to surge up the Group A table. With 7 group games each there was still time for both these teams to make their mark in the tournament. The teams currently sat in fifth and sixth position. A positive result would be just what the doctor ordered to really kick-start their campaign.

It was Leek High Boys who came into the game in higher spirits having just defeated Deportivo Dooradoyle 3-0. They also enjoyed the best of this game in the opening exchanges and it was Tommy Coates scoring for the second game in a row that gave his team the lead.

CBD Boys were yet to put goals or points on the board but their results need to be tempered with the fact they had played both Spider Mans & Eagle and L'Albiceleste – the top two teams and the favourites for the group. 1-0 and 2-0 defeats were not the end of the world in those particular fixtures. Here in Round 3 they were back on level terms as they made it 1-1 thanks to Rubik Menezes who scored his team's first of the day.

Final score, 1-1. Only time would tell if this was 1 point gained or 2 points dropped.

To complete Round 3 we had the abandoned fixture of Bolivar versus Deportivo Dooradoyle. Deportivo Dooradoyle (Ire) picked up a 3-0 walkover win.
