20 games down and 8 to go in Group A – the results and points on offer were becoming increasingly crucial as we progressed through the rounds. To kick us off in Round 6 we had Spider Mans & Eagle versus Deportivo Dooradoyle.

When Spider Mans & Eagle kicked off Round 5 there was just 2 points separating the top 3. After their win against Leek High Boys, L'Albiceleste and Sigurdsson's Advice Bureau both added wins of their own to keep the pressure on. Spider Mans & Eagle still had work to do.

Deportivo Dooradoyle had found it tough this morning due to injuries and a late casualty for the tour. On paper, this looked like a home win for Spider Mans & Eagle. On the pitch, it looked to be going that way too. Warren Whitmore gave Spider Mans & Eagle the lead. They had proved to be great front-runners today – in every game in which they had taken the lead they went on to complete a clean sheet.

The odds were against Deportivo Dooradoyle coming back and those odds lengthened when Nick McIntosh made it 2-0 to Spider Mans. The bookies may well have been paying out when Nick McIntosh scored his fourth in two games and his seventh overall today to make it 3-0.

Spider Mans & Eagle had effectively booked their place in the Cup with a game to spare so many congratulations to them.

Leek High Boys had conceded a 3-0 walkover earlier in the day. They were now to benefit and claim a 3-0 walkover due to Bolivar's no-show. The 3 points meant they sat in 5th place on 8 points.

On Pitch C, or Campo C as the locals would have it, we had CBD Boys (Oman) versus Fylingdales FC (Eng). It was sixth place versus fourth place.

Fylingdales FC were very much in the mix at the top of Group A. They were four points off top and 3 points off the second Cup qualification place. With 6 points on offer they definitely had a chance to make it. This would be a must win game though especially with L'Albiceleste to come.

For CBD Boys, performances were improving but they weren't quite getting the results that the performances merited and so the Trophy looked the most likely destination for them. They could still climb up to fourth and pip their opponents for the Plate though. They would have to win their final two games and hope Fylingdales FC would also lose their final fixture.

If CBD Boys were to win this one they would have to come from behind as Paul Carney put Fylingdales FC ahead. CBD Boys had struggled with goals earlier in the day but they were now looking sharper up top and Daley Mathias obliged in this game as he made it 1-1.

Fylingdales FC would have the final say though as Ollie White's strike secured all 3 points in a 2-1 win. The result meant they could finish no worse than fourth.

The game on Pitch D of Round 6 in Group A was Sigurdsson's Advice Bureau versus L'Albiceleste. This was a huge game in the context of the Group A in terms of Cup qualification. It was the teams in second position and third position respectively.

The league leaders, Spider Mans & Eagle, were on their way to victory against Deportivo Dooradoyle and would be collecting a 3-0 walkover win over Bolivar in Round 7 so the Group A title would be theirs. Sigurdsson's Advice Bureau and L'Albiceleste were therefore fighting for the second Cup qualification place.

Sigurdsson's Advice Bureau currently held the advantage with a one point lead over their opponents. A win for them would secure that place in the Cup. A draw would keep things going into the final round of games and keep things in the English team's hands. A win for L'Albiceleste would see them leapfrog their opponent's and put them in pole position for second place.

In L'Albiceleste's previous 5 tournaments they had won their group every single time. That run would end here in Barcelona but they could still keep up their 100% record of Cup qualification. Things started well for them with Thibaut Gall scoring his third of the day. Thibault Kerouredan then doubled the lead to make it 2-0.

L'Albiceleste put the icing on the cake when Cedric Castarede made it 3-0. Following 2 draws in a row (excluding the walkover), the French team were back to winning ways just when they needed it.

For Sigurdsson's Advice Bureau it was a blow but their Cup hopes were not over just yet as we entered the 7th and final round of games.
