Next
up was Rigford Seahawks versus Shrewsbury Townsend.
The two teams were 1st and 2nd and had already
qualified for the Cup so could relax and enjoy
this one although there was still plenty to
play for – pride, honour and of course the Group
C title. Along with the glory of being league
winners it should, in theory, mean an easier
Quarter-Final fixture.
Rigford
Seahawks had a 100% record with 4 wins out of
4 but Shrewsbury Townsend were the form team
by winning their last 3 each by a margin of
5 goals. The Seahawks would only need a draw
to win the group, Shrewsbury Townsend would
need to take victory.
With
Shrewsbury Townsend scoring 16 in 3 games it
was clear that defence for Rigford Seahawks
was going to be key. The Seahawks Cup Final
win in Krakow 2009 had shown us they were tactically
astute and so it proved here. They managed to
thwart their opponents rampant attack and although
they couldn't find the net at the other end
we are sure that didn't bother them as the 0-0
draw was good enough to earn them the Group
C title.
Both
teams would qualify for the Cup with confidence
and were both potential winners of this tournament.
