Round 2 started with East Compton Seagulls against Hertha Beerlin. Both teams had produced solid starts with the Seagulls teasing out a narrow victory and Hertha Beerlin a good opening draw.

So far we'd seen a slow start in Group C in terms of goals with just 3 goals in 3 games but that was set to change in this fixture. Sadly for Hertha Beelin it was at their expense as East Compton Seagulls really found their shooting boots. Rob Graham got the ball rolling in the first half before first game goal hero, Rich Manns, made it 2-0.

In the second period Rich Manns completed a fine hat-trick as East Compton Seagulls ran out 4-0 victors. They were top of the table with 2 wins out of 2, a number 10 on fire with 4 in 2 games and a goalkeeper in Ian Dawes with two clean sheets under his belt – things were looking good.

Hertha Beerlin would need to rediscover their opening game form and put this fixture behind them in their next game.

Rigford Seahawks continued their challenge when they came up against Sturm Holzwurm. The English side were looking to make it 2 wins out of 2 whereas the Germans needed to put a slender defeat behind them and register their first points of the day.

There was very little in it in the opening period and in a tight group with few goals it was perhaps no surprise we reached the break all square at 0-0. The game needed someone to step up to the plate, grab a goal and become a matchwinner. Cometh the hour, cometh the man and that man was Wayne Hayes. His goal secured a second successive win for the Rigford Seahawks and their campaign was well on the way.

It was another narrow defeat for Sturm Holzwurm who had lost 1-0 to the two teams at the top. This should give them hope and confidence going into their remaining three group fixtures that they were competitive.

The final game of the round was Hasanheide Donkeys versus Shrewsbury Townsend. The Donkeys opening game defeat saw them at the foot of the table but a win here would see them rise to third. Shrewsbury Townsend started off with a solid point and now was the time to kick on and keep pace with the Group C leaders.

Shrewsbury Townsend failed to find the net in their opening game but they made up for this in style in this game. Captain Joe Croft got the ball rolling and a strike from Richard Deeming made it 2-0 by half-time. In the second period they went from strength to strength as Deeming grabbed a second, Matty Horne got on the scoresheet and they were assisted by an own goal along the way.

The final score was 5-0 and just what the doctor ordered for Shrewsbury Townsend. It was a tough defeat for the Donkeys and it was the two German teams who were struggling in the league table.
