At the start of Round 5, we would see Blue Water CF play FC Mahou on Pitch B. FC Mahou had qualified for the Cup already and they were Group A champions elect. They only needed a point to win the group. In truth, they could even afford a defeat as long as Stilton Rovers didn't beat Dickie Dogs by a crazy scoreline.

There was more pressure on Blue Water CF who needed a result. They were currently 1 of 3 teams separated by just one point between third and fifth. Only two of those three teams would qualify for the Plate. Blue Water needed a draw if Dickie Dogs lost to Stilton Rovers. Otherwise, they needed a win. However, a win against FC Mahou was a tough ask.

So far, Marc Lawrie in the FC Mahou goal had not yet conceded. Augusto Gonzalez Bigliano became the first man today to score against Marc Lawrie and his FC Mahou defence. Despite the goal Blue Water CF still trailed at half-time but only by a narrow 2-1 scoreline. You had to say that the Blue Water CF performance had been the best against FC Mahou – in terms of the score anyway.

With a 2-1 lead FC Mahou eased away from their opponents in the second half. They turned 2-1 into 4-1 and rounded off the group in style. Pete Cox added two more to his tally. Steve Sachro and Mike Brandon each added a notch to their goalscoring bed posts.

We'd like to offer huge congratulations to FC Mahou on the Group A title – a job well done.

Game 14 of Group A was the academic exercise of awarding WEEDS Youth the 3-0 walkover against Poppy's NFI. It lifted them to 7 points which, given the result above, would see them finish third or fourth subject to the Dickie Dogs result below. Regardless of finish, they had successfully qualified for the Plate.

The 15th and final game of Group A was a repeat of the 1st and opening game of the 2016 Lisbon Tournament. It was Stilton Rovers versus Dickie Dogs.

In Portugal, after a goal-less first half in it was Dickie Dogs who emerged victorious when Adam Dewhirst struck the only goal of the game in the second half. It was Adam Dewhirst's European debut for Dickie Dogs and he made quite an impact – he wasn't here in Mallorca though.

Stilton Rovers went on to have the better group finish in Lisbon finishing a place above the Dickie Dogs in second to reach the Cup. Here in Mallorca, Stilton Rovers were in second place and guaranteed a place in the Cup. Dickie Dogs were a place behind as they were in Lisbon. To finish in third position again, Dickie Dogs needed a win in this one.

The pressure was off for Stilton Rovers knowing that second place was assured so they could have a free hit at this one. In theory, they could still win Group A but it would require a surprise defeat for FC Mahou and a big swing in goal difference.

We were treated to a six goal thriller as Stilton Rovers got their revenge from Lisbon. They won it 4-2 thanks to a brace from each of Andrew Walmsley and Toby Larman. Neil Ainger and Paul Haezewindt were amongst the goals for Dickie Dogs. As the results from the other pitches filtered through it meant the defeat for Dickie Dogs saw them slip from third to fourth but they had done enough to qualify for the Plate.
