Wilmslow Whoppers came into Round 2 on the back of a fine 4-1 win. Green Man were looking to respond to a 1-0 defeat.

As briefly touched upon in Round 1, Wilmslow Whoppers were making their European debut with us in Mallorca. Formed at Wilmslow High School in 2012 they have enjoyed much domestic success dating back to junior tournaments at Powerleague Stockport before moving up to adult football. They've played 5's, 6's, 7's and 11-a-side winning the Cheshire FA Sevens in both Macclesfield & Knutsford, the Life Football 5's and 6's plus the FA People's Cup in Stockport. They also finished 3 rd in the Ibiza League Tournament where the lads enjoyed a day out at Wembley. Could they be contenders on the European stage?

It certainly looked that way after the start they had. They continued their good early form by taking a 1-0 lead in the first half. It was that man Jamie Frost again with the opening goal – he'd scored all 5 of his team's goals so far. After the break he let someone else have a go as Peter Boyle made it 2-0. Jamie Frost was not out of the limelight for long as he made it 3-0 and secured another 3 points for Wilmslow Whoppers.

Southgate County were up next against McArthur's Big Macs in a game that saw two first round victors come face to face. A win for either would see them join Wilmslow Whoppers at the top of the table.

Southgate County (Eng) were challenging on two fronts in Mallorca in both the Open Age and the Veterans Tournaments. They debuted in @eurofootball5 competition at the 2015 Berlin Fives. They had a tough start losing 3-0 to 2 x Cup Semi-Finalists and 2016 Krakow Trophy champions Tinniedad & Tobacco. They then lost 4-1 to eventual runners-up Hurting Berlin. They turned things around with a 3-0 win over Scandittack FC, 3-2 win over Fail Madrid and 4-1 win over Rayford Athletic. They qualified for the Cup competition where they went out 2-1 to the eventual winners Pink Flamingos A.

They followed this up with a trip to the Lisbon Tournament in 2016. They started off with a 2-1 win over SNQTB (Por) before a narrow 1-0 lost to French finalists World Pinteur. They then returned to winning ways 3-0 against Your Mum (Eng) before another narrow defeat, 3-2, to eventual winners Parques Tejo (Por). They qualified for the Plate and went all the way to glory thanks to a 2-1 win over Shrewsbury Townsend in the Semi-Finals and another win against Your Mum (2-0) in the Plate Final.

There was nothing between the two teams at half-time. A Damien O'Brien goal (Southgate County) and Michael Baker goal (McArthur's Big Macs) cancelled each other out in the opening period.

In Round 1, McArthur's Big Macs were level at half-time before producing a second half winner. They repeated the dose here when Alex McCarthur popped up to score the winner.

The game that would complete Round 2 was Son Gual against Inter Balear. The two teams both played in the 2015 Mallorca Tournament but didn't meet on that occasion. Inter Balear (as Seleccion Balear) went on to win the Plate whilst Son Gual had gone on to the Cup Quarter-Finals. Both teams had lost their opener and needed to bounce back quickly.

We'd mentioned before that Inter Balear on their two previous occasions had been slow starters losing their first game. Both times they had responded to win their second fixture. They were on course to make it a hat-trick here against Son Gual when they hit the front through Vicente Cedrun Martin.

Son Gual found themselves kicking off the second half a goal behind but they put in a sensational second half. Alejandro equalized before Paul Roman put Son Gual ahead. Ryan scored in the first game and he was on target again to make it 3-1. What a comeback for Son Gual! They had their first points on the board.
