FC Mahou (as FC Radbroke) had played in Mallorca twice before at the 2012 and 2016 Mallorca Tournaments. In the group phase, both campaigns were remarkably similar with them picking up 4 wins out of 5 and suffering just the one defeat on each occasion. They had scored 35 goals and conceded just 3 in those 10 games. On both occasions they also went out in the Cup Quarter-Final to Spanish opposition. It was 5-0 to Cosegur Balear and 5-3 to Policia Local.

Their form today was no different with 2 wins out of 2 so far. They had scored 10 goals without reply and were looking good. They were now up against Stilton Rovers. Stilton Rovers promised to be their sternest test in the group phase as the leading English team in last year's Lisbon Veterans Tournament. Stilton Rovers were joint top on 6 points with a 3-0 and 5-1 win to their name.

For FC Mahou it seemed like normal service resumed regardless of opposition. Mike Brandon was 2013 Algarve Open tournament top goalscorer – he opened the scoring in this game to set his team on a third successive victory. Goals for Steve Sachro and Pete Cox followed as FC Mahou moved on to 9 points.

For Stilton Rovers, it was just a 2nd defeat in 8 group games in our tournaments but they were still well placed in the table and retained second position.

Having had the walkover win in Round 2 it was now time for Blue Water CF to take to the field for the 2nd time today. It was 3rd versus 6th at the start of Round 3 as their opponents would be WEEDS Youth. If Blue Water CF could claim victory they would move into second place in the table.

WEEDS Youth had struggled in the first two rounds but it should be noted that they had arguably had the most difficult games up front. The key when this happens is not to get demoralized for the ensuing fixtures. So, although there was no shame in losing the first two games to illustrious opposition, they needed to “stop the rot” so to speak.

It started well for WEEDS Youth who struck the opening blow. Luke ‘Coach' Walden grabbed the goal that put his team in front for the first time today. It was a lead they would take into half-time.

In the second half WEEDS Youth provided a much improved defensive display. Having conceded 12 goals in the first two games, Nigel ‘Gabby' Unsworth produced a clean sheet to help ensure all 3 points would be going to WEEDS Youth.

Poppy's NFI were next on the fixture list so it was walkover time. It was the turn of Dickie Dogs FC to collect the 3-0 win which helped consolidate their position of 4th place in the league standings.
