With their first games under their belts it was Round 2 for all the teams in Group A and time to settle in to the tournament.

Finn's Chins were one of three teams from Saltford FC (Eng) who were technically on debut as they are making their first eurofootballfives.com appearance. However, they did feature in their ranks Ross Lawson who has played in the 2015 and 2016 tournaments for We've Got Wood (who won the Plate competition at last year's event). Ross Lawson and his Finn's Chins team-mates had put in a good performance in their opening fixture but it ended up with defeat.

Against Lilchicago they largely paid the price for a slow start and found themselves 3-1 down. They rectified that in Round 2 and came flying out of the traps. Ross Lawson and Guy Turner grabbed a goal each as they lead Abertawe 2-0 at half-time.

Full-time came and went and the score still at 2-0 as the English team took all 3 points. It was a second successive 2-0 defeat for Abertawe but they still had time to make their mark in this group. For Finn's Chins it was a very important 3 points as they moved up to third in the table.

Next up on Pitch C was Brioche FS versus Lilchicago .

Brioche FS involvement in our tournaments date back to the 2014 Mallorca Tournament where they lost 6-2 in their opening game but it was against the eventual winners Cheesecake FC. They followed this up with a 5-0 win over Taylor's Tigers before slipping to a 6-1 defeat to Universidad Palma. They finished on a high with a 1-0 win over Kazbar FC to finish 3rd in the group and qualify for the Plate. A 3-1 win over Son Gual (Spa) in the Quarter-Finals and a 4-0 win over The A Team (Fra) in the Semi-Finals saw them through to a debut final. They were victorious 3-1 over Athletic 8Minute Bilbao to collect the silverware. At the 2015 tournament they finished 2nd in Group A on goal difference having collected 4 wins and 1 draw. They then drew 0-0 with ZVC Indoor Gent of Belgium in the Quarter-Finals before going out 3-2 on penalties.

The 2016 Mallorca Tournament was their most successful yet with a 100% Group D record of 5 wins from 5 games scoring 17 goals whilst conceding 5. Their form continued with a 4-0 Quarter-Final win over Old Sedcopians Academy. They then drew 2-2 with Peluqueria Mariano in the Semi-Finals before penalties proved their undoing again – they went out 4-3 in the shootout.

They played at the recent 2017 Mallorca Fives (20th May) and, with a much changed squad, still competed well with 9 points from a possible 15 in the group phase to qualify for the Cup. They suffered defeat in the Quarter-Finals to French team Blue Collar Revolution.

Today, the Spanish team had opened up with a defeat and they were staring down the barrel of a second successive loss as Lilchicago turned on the style. Goals from Sarunas Krasauskas and Liudas Masiliunas (x2) meant the Lithuanian team now had 2 wins from 2 games and were top of Group A.

To complete Round 2 we had Mavericks versus Whiteley FC. Both teams had enjoyed success in Round 1 and a second win here would put them joint top of the table.

These two teams had some history when they met at the 2015 Algarve Open in the second round of Group B. On that occasion Mavericks emerged victorious with a 4-1 win to their name. A Craig Jones hat-trick and a Mark Adamson goal helped them on their way to three points in the Algarve. Both men were in action here again in Mallorca.

This game was also a milestone game for Whiteley FC. It marked their 50th game in the group phase of eurofootballfives.com competition. It was a huge achievement and thank you for your support of our events over the years.

Sadly for Whiteley FC but joyously for Mavericks history would repeat itself as the latter team would taste success again in this fixture. A first half goal from Jack Salisbury would prove the difference in 2017 as his first half goal was the match winner. Mavericks were now joint top with Lilchicago but sat in 2nd position on goals scored.
