We were down to the final four teams in our Trophy competition and first up was FC Maroon versus One Calamski.

FC Maroon were on the up and up in this tournament. They started slowly with 3 defeats but had since turned the corner. It started with a very good 0-0 draw against Melee FC before a thumping 10-0 win over The Crazy Gang and then a 4-1 win over FC Sharks. So, with 14 goals scored and just 1 conceded in their 3 last games they would come into this fixture full of confidence.

One Calamski had drawn their last two games in normal time but will have been buoyed by a penalty shoot-out win in the Quarter-Finals – who isn't buoyed by a penalty shoot-out win?

It was One Calamski who struck first in this tie with Ian Mansley, fresh from the winning penalty, giving his team the advantage. On the stroke of half-time FC Maroon were level with Rich Mason's second of the tournament.

The second half saw Matt Alawi come to the fore – he put FC Maroon 2-1 up and then 3-1 up with his fifth and sixth goals of the tournament. He was hunting down his personal record haul of 8 goals in European competition at the 2015 Barcelona Fives. One Calamski got one back through Jason Carr but Matt Alawi completed his hat-trick (his second of the day) to ensure it would be FC Maroon going through to the Trophy Final, 4-2.

So, who would meet FC Maroon in the Final? Would it be Aliance or Riga United. The only thing we knew for sure was that it would be an England v Latvia final.

Aliance had enjoyed an extended lunch break due to the withdrawal of The Crazy Gang. Would that extra rest work in their favour – time to rest legs and lungs. Alternatively, would it work against them as muscles stiffened and they potentially lose their rhythm. Riga United had warmed up nicely for this tie with an enthralling 7-5 win over It's Back.

It was clear from the early stages of this one that there would be only one winner. Arturs Miezitis put Aliance 1-0 up in the very first minute and it was 2-0 in the third minute when Matiss Spaile scored. Spaile added his second of the game to make it 3-0 at half-time.

The pattern of the second half continued as Arturs Miezitis scored early again for 4-0. Atis Legladines scored for the second game running to reduce arrears to 4-1 but it was a mere blip for Aliance. Aliance went on to add four more through Uldis Aliks, Arturs Miezitis (2) and Edgars Polkovs as they were convincing 8-1 winners.
