The start of Round 3 saw the top two teams come face to face in the battle at the summit of Group B. It was FK Prienai Lithuania versus Melee FC of England with the two teams both possessing 100% records having scored 11 goals between them and having conceded just 1 each so far. For one, maybe both, of these teams that 100% record would go.

As you might expect with two teams with such equal records coming into the game the match proved to be a very even contest in the first half. We reached half-time with Melee FC holding the slenderest of leads, 1-0, thanks to David Stothard's second goal in as many games.

All eyes were on FK Prienai Lithuania to see if they could come up with an equalizer – they could. Donatas Bendinskas had enjoyed a superb start to the tournament and his third goal in three games levelled things up at 1-1.

The match finished 1-1 as the two teams consolidated their position at the top of Group B. It was a quality game between two quality teams and we did wonder if this might be a rehearsal for the Cup Final later in the day….only time would tell.

FC Maroon versus Zemniecki was the next game on Pitch B and was a battle between the 5th and 3rd placed teams respectively.

FC Maroon had a record in the group phase of eurofootballfives.com competition that (before today) read played 14, won 3, drawn 3, lost 8 with 17 goals scored, 27 against and a haul of 12 points. They had finished 5th in each campaign. As they currently sat in 5th I guess they were in a par position but obviously looking to kick on.

With the match underway it was Zemniecki who started the brighter. A win for them in this game would put them on 6 points and just 1 point behind the two league leaders. Arvid Karsteins and Miks Roze set them on their way and they had a 2-0 lead at half-time.

In the second half there was a goal each with Janis Klepanis keeping his goal per game record going for Zemniecki. For FC Maroon there was a goal for Matt Alawi - despite a troubled campaign for his team at the 2015 Barcelona Fives, Matt Alawi was the second top goal-scorer in the tournament with 8 goals and he was off the mark here in Riga.

To complete Round 3 we had Yac Club versus The Crazy Gang. Yac Club had made a decent start to the tournament recording 3 points from a possible 6 and had an opportunity to move into joint second position if they could get back to winning ways.

The Crazy Gang had experienced a tough start to proceedings this morning and found themselves propping up Group B looking for their first points and first goals of the day. In a tongue-in-cheek email before the tournament they mentioned their ambition was a goal and a point. Could they get off the mark?

Yac Club got off to an absolute stormer in this game as they scored four times in the first half alone. Alex Brown scored a brace to get the ball rolling before Nick Pocock himself scored a brace to take his personal total for the day to four goals in three games. Yac Club did not have it all their own way though as The Crazy Gang completed one of their day's objectives by scoring – Phil Lockwood-Taylor the man with the goal. 4-1 at half-time.

After the break Jack Patterson made it 5-1 before Chris Proffitt rounded off the scoring to secure a sensational 6-1 win. Yac Club moved on to 6 points and there was now just 1 point separating the top four. It was looking ominous for The Crazy Gang and (FC Maroon) as they were being cut adrift at the foot of the table.
