FC
Shark went into their final fixture needing
victory against CAP FC to try and make the Plate.
They would also need a DHFC or Fail Madrid defeat
combined with a swing in goal difference (4
goals on DHFC, 3 goals on Fail Madrid). As DHFC
and Fail Madrid were playing each other in the
final game this was a possibility. Anything
less than a win and FC Shark would progress
to the Trophy.
CAP
FC could guarantee Cup qualification with a
win. A draw would see them slip into the Plate
with a positive result in DHFC v Fail Madrid.
If that game was to end in a draw then a point
would be good enough for CAP FC to reach the
Cup. They could even do it with a defeat (3
goals or less) as they had a better goal difference
than the two teams below them.
CAP
FC looked determined to take any risk of progression
out of the equation going into the final game.
They kept things entirely in their own hands
as they opened up a 2-0 lead in the first half.
Patrick Townson bagged both the goals.
FC
Shark were unable to hit back in the second
half and the game finished at 2-0. Congratulations
to CAP FC for qualifying for the Cup – a fine
reward for a good morning's work. FC Shark would
join Aliance in the Trophy competition.
