Round 2 started with It's Back versus RAF Fylingdales. The former had suffered defeat in the first game and were looking to bounce back. The latter had recorded a draw first time out and were looking to build on it and make early advances on the road to Cup qualification.

Both of these teams played out a goal-less first half in their opening fixture and so perhaps we should not be surprised we reached the break in this one still level at 0-0. As with the games in Round 1, goals were to follow in the second half.

As the second half reached the mid-way point the deadlock was finally broken and it was James Martin who delivered the vital strike. A couple of minutes later he struck again to make it 2-0. There was no way back for It's Back as Jamie Watt in the Fylingdales kept their first clean sheet of the tournament.

RAF Fylingdales lost their first two games at the 2013 Barcelona Fives without scoring. The 2016 Riga Tournament was a vast improvement with 4 points from a possible 6, 3 goals scored and just the 1 conceded. It was a very good start to the competition.

Cruz Del Sur B and Leilupe were next in action on Pitch D. Leilupe were the only team to pick up all three points in Round 1 and if they could pick up a second win here they would take control of Group D. Cruz Del Sur B opened up with a solid 0-0 draw and were looking to kick their campaign on.

It was the English team who struck first in the second minute when Adam Cummins scored his team's first goal of the tournament. It looked they might take a lead into the break but a minute before half-time Miguel Ferreira equalized for 1-1.

The second half kicked off level at 1-1 but became a one sided affair as Leilupe wrestled control of the tie. Carlos Chillon put his side 2-1 up with his second goal in as many games before Miguel Fontes gave them a cushion at 3-1. Two goals in the final minute from Miguel Fontes and Helder Goncalves gave the score an unflattering perspective from the Cruz Del Sur B perspective but there was no doubt Leilupe were worthy of the three points. Final score, 5-1.

To complete Round 2 we had FC Dad versus Saga Louts. These two teams had some history – the 2013 Valencia Fives Trophy Final. Saga Louts, as one of the Bure Park Old Boys teams, played in that final as Sporting Abeergut. They met FC Dad and played in a 5-goal thriller. It was Sporting Abeergut who emerged victorious in Spain with a 3-2 win.

Today both teams had begun with a draw so which of these sides could push on and take victory? After the early exchanges it was FC Dad who forged ahead with Calum Jones scoring their first goal of the tournament. In that Valencia game, whilst playing in goal, Stuart Leslie scored his team's second of the match. He scored the second of the match this time around but playing as an outfield player. It was 2-0 to FC Dad at half-time.

Turning our attention back to Valencia again, in that final Matt Johnson scored a hat-trick in the final to win it for Sporting Abeergut. Here in the colours of Saga Louts he was on the scoresheet again as he reduced FC Dad's lead to 2-1.

There was to be no further addition to the score as FC Dad ran out 2-1 winners. Although only two games in, they had equaled their record points haul in a eurofootballfives.com group phase of 4 points that they achieved at the 2012 Valencia Fives and the 2015 Barcelona Fives. They had 3 games left to surpass that record.
