Red Cow Belgrade (Eng)

The second final of the day would see DHFC versus Red Cow Belgrade. With seven games of football already under their belt the two teams would need to summon one last burst of energy to ensure they would be picking up winners and not runners-up medals in the presentation.

DHFC were playing in their first eurofootballfives.com final in their second eurofootballfives.com appearance. It had been a great day for them so far with 3 wins, 3 draws and just the 1 defeat. This was Red Cow Belgrade's third successive European Final having reached the 2014 Barcelona Fives Plate Final and the 2015 Lisbon Tournament Trophy Final. They lost 2-0 to Naranjitos in Spain and 3-1 on penalties (after a 1-1 draw) to Frank Hirth A in Portugal. Could it be third time lucky for Red Cow Belgrade?

It was Red Cow Belgrade who struck first when Joe Howitt scored his 8th goal of the day. It was a goal that would mean he was the joint third top scorer in the tournament and he became the second Red Cow Belgrade man to score in a eurofootballfives.com final (Daz Bray was the first by the way).

The second half kicked off with DHFC trailing by a goal to nil but they were not behind for long. Captain Tom Holder was yet to score today but he chose the perfect time to get his first and pull his team level at 1-1. Tom Jepson had found his goal-scoring touch in the knock-out phase and his fourth in three games put DHFC 2-1 up. Could Red Cow Belgrade respond? If they could they would have to do it from 3-1 down as Ben Charles-Williams 6 th of the tournament effectively put the game out of reach of his opponents.

There was to be no further score and DHFC had pulled off a superb victory. We offer our consolations to Red Cow Belgrade on a fine campaign – it was their third Final in three years but their third Runners-Up finish.

We offer huge congratulations to our 2016 Riga Tournament Plate winners – DHFC.
