Group C was really hotting up as we entered Round 4. Match 10 of the group was Riga United against Cruz Del Sur A. It was 5th versus top as 8 points separated the two teams. Cruz Del Sur A were red hot favourites and came into the game with a 100% record. Could Riga United halt their progress?

Cruz Del Sur A had opened up with two solid 1-0 wins but really turned on the style last time out with a 6-1 win. They continued in a similar vein here as two first half goals put them in the driving seat. There was a goal each for Thomas Obafemi and Thomas Lawro or “Tom Ell” as listed on the scoresheet. Cruz Del Sur A were on course for victory #4 of the day.

The second half was a little closer with Thomas Lawro (Cruz Del Sur A) and Ronny Farah (Riga United) trading blows as the match finished 3-1 to the English team. Cruz Del Sur A said they were coming to Riga to win the tournament – there was no reason to doubt them at this stage.

Match 11 was Factset versus Red Cow Belgrade. The two teams were in 3rd and 4th positions and thereby occupying the Plate qualification positions in mid-table. This was a cross-roads for their hopes in the knock-out phase. A win would see them surge up the table and possibly move into second position. A defeat would end their Cup qualification hopes. A draw would make it very difficult and open the door for Drunken DisAudley to clinch the second Cup spot after Cruz Del Sur A.

The good news for Red Cow Belgrade was that they were well positioned. The bad news was that their form was dipping – starting with a win before a draw and then a defeat. They really needed to arrest the slide in form. They met a Factset team whose form was the polar opposite going from defeat to draw to victory. Momentum suggested a Factset victory may be on the cards.

Momentum was correct as Factset completed a comprehensive win with three goals in each half to win the first set, 6-0. The goals came from Ruslans Puzinsh (2), Nikolay Malisho (2), Nikolay Korzh and Sandis Jihans.

It was a stunning result for Factset who moved up into second place (although Drunken DisAudley had a game in hand). Red Cow Belgrade remained in fourth.

The game that would complete Round 4 and set the scene for the start of Round 5 would be One Calamski against Drunken DisAudley. One Calamski currently resided in sixth but a draw (or better) would see them move off the bottom. Drunken DisAudley had slipped to third after Factset's victory above but had the chance to immediately re-claim second position with a win here.

The game on the field of play was much tighter than the league positions may have suggested as One Calamski matched their opposition every step of the way in the first half. We reached the half-time whistle still level at 0-0.

Those wanting to see goals would have been happy with what the second half served up as we had three goals to savour. Drunken DisAudley took the three points by winning 2-1. Goals from Harry Musson and Russell Nash saw them take victory as Richard Holliday's strike ultimately proved to be in vain.

Drunken DisAudley were well positioned in second place with just one game to go.
