The first set of fixtures has been completed so it was quickly on to Round 2. The opening game saw FK Prienai Lithuania taking on FC Maroon as Lithuania met England. It was obviously early days but FK Prienai Lithuania lead the way after Round 1 courtesy of goal difference after three teams picked up the maximum 3 points from their first game. If they could make it two wins out of two they would be our early pace-setters.

FC Maroon had suffered a narrow defeat in their first game but a defeat nonetheless. The Lithuanian team looked well organized in their first fixture so it seemed to be a tough fixture for FC Maroon to try and bounce back from that opening loss. It was FK Prienai Lithuania who took the lead when Remigijus Gaizius scored his first of the tournament.

FC Maroon then hit back through Brett Zimmerman in what can only be described as a nice team goal….but mainly Brett. It meant the scores were 1-1 at half-time. For the second game in a row FC Maroon saw an even position at half-time slip to a losing position at full-time. Goals from Donatas Bendinskas and Donatas Dainauskas ensured that FK Prienai Lithuania would win the game.

FK Prienai Lithuania completed a 3-1 victory and were looking good with a maximum 6 points and 6 goals to their name already.

The final game of Round 2 was Zemniecki versus Yac Club. In Round 1 we had three winning teams and (naturally) three losing teams. The fixtures meant that every winner in Round 1 met one of the losing teams in Round 2. The form book meant that both the winners who had previously played in Round 2 collected a second win. If Yac Club could emulate the feat of Melee FC and FK Prienai Lithuania then there would be three teams on 6, three teams on zero and quite a gulf between top and bottom.

Naturally Zemniecki would be doing all they could to ensure that wouldn't happen and a win would keep them in the hunt for a Cup qualification place. Of the teams losing in Round 1 they had arguably put in the best performance with a narrow 2-1 loss to Melee FC. Both teams started off well and there was little to separate the two teams. It was 1-1 at half-time with goals from Janis Klepanis (Zemniecki) and Nick Pocock (Yac Club) cancelling each other out. For both players it was their second goal in as many games.

After the break we were to see a winner. Yac Club had been level at half-time in their opening game before going on to win. This time out the boot was on the other foot as it was Zemniecki who went on to win courtesy of a Miks Roze strike. The 2-1 result meant that Yac Club and Zemniecki occupied the mid-table positions at the end of Round 2.
