Round 4 of Group A began with FC Shark entertaining L'Albiceleste. The home named team was unbeaten in their last two games but looking for their first victory which would rocket them up the table. They had a tough ask in this game against the French who were the big climbers over the last two rounds taking a maximum 6 points.

L'Albiceleste got off to a flyer in the last game against DHFC and they repeated the feat here. Lionel Ledinh opened the scoring before Cedric Castarede cashed in. He had five goals already this morning and added two more to this total as he took the game away from FC Shark. It was 3-0 at the break.

There was a goal to cheer in the second half for FC Shark as Andy Spafford opened his account for the day. It was always going to be a tough ask to pull back a 3-0 deficit and one that FC Shark were unable to do. The final score was 4-1 to L'Albiceleste with Anthony Jouenne claiming his first of the day to round off the scoring for his team.

L'Albiceleste had now picked up 3 successive wins in a row and were storming into the Cup competition.

Aliance were up next and were up against DHFC. With games running out a win here would be massive in the context of Group A and give either team every chance of making the Cup in Round 5. A defeat/draw would end Aliance's hopes but may still be ok for DHFC subject to other results in the final few games. It seemed clear though that the teams were battling for just 1 Cup plate with L'Albiceleste seemingly having wrapped up the other.

It was DHFC struck the first blow as David Mobbs scored his first goal of the tournament to give his side the advantage. It was a lead Stevens and his team would maintain until the break. As things stood, DHFC would be sitting in second place in the table.

At the change of ends Aliance knew they needed to score at least once, preferably more. They did manage to get on terms when Matis Spaile found the back of the net. A draw was not really good enough for them to make the Cup but would give them hope of the Plate. Ideally, both teams needed to find a winner but a winning goal proved elusive. It was a third successive draw for Aliance and a second in three games for DHFC.

It was a result that kept Aliance 5th in the table and kept DHFC 3rd in the table (although joint second on goal difference).

CAP FC had an opportunity to virtually seal Cup qualification – they needed to win to open up a three point lead on third place which would see them just need a point in their final game. CAP FC remained unbeaten with a win and two draws so far. Fail Madrid occupied 4 th place at the start of Round 4 and a win for them would see them jump two places to 2nd position going into the final round of fixtures.

There was to be just the one goal in the opening period to separate the two teams and that goal came from Richard Beet who put CAP FC 1-0 up. CAP FC had struggled in the build-up to the tournament with a couple of injuries and a missed flight to Riga the day before the tournament. Despite this far from ideal preparation they were doing superbly this morning with the aid of a couple of Latvian loan signings. The “live” league table showed them in second place and with one foot in the Cup.

In the second half, Fail Madrid hit back to equalize at 1-1 with Robert Maller grabbing his second of the tournament. Fail Madrid needed at least a draw to keep their Cup hopes on track going into the final round of fixtures but they fell behind again when Richard Beet scored his second of the game to make it 2-1. It looked like CAP FC would have their second win of the day but Fail Madrid had other ideas. They scored a last minute winner against Aliance in Round 1 and now in Round 4 they found a last minute equalizer. It was Robert Maller again as the game finished Richard Beet 2-2 Robert Maller.

In the context of the group, the draw was arguably a better point for CAP FC but having lead twice it probably felt like two points dropped. Both teams had a chance of making the elite Cup competition going into Round 5.
