We were down to our final 4 teams in the Plate competition. The first Semi-Final would see DHFC versus RAF Fylingdales. This promised to be a high quality encounter - DHFC had so far won 2, drawn 3 and lost just 1 today with 13 goals for and 7 against. RAF Fylingdales had won 2, drawn 2, lost 2 with 14 goals for and 11 against.

Both teams were in their second eurofootballfives.com appearance and both teams had already surpassed their previous best and were now in unchartered territory. One more performance and one more positive result and the winners would be in a debut European final.

We reached half-time and we were no closer to knowing who the first Finalist be as the teams were level pegging at 1-1. Ben Charles-Williams scored his fifth of the day for DHFC, Paul Carney scored his fifth of the day for RAF Fylingdales.

In the second half it was DHFC who seized the initiative as Andrew Mobbs nudged his team ahead. Tom Jepson then made it 3-1 and you would think they were going through. Factset in the Quarter-Finals would attest to the fact that 3-1 up against Fylingdales was a dangerous scoreline as they went on to lose 6-3. There was no such danger for DHFC as Stuart Clarke sealed a 4-1 victory.

It was farewell to RAF Fylingdales for the day but we thank them for attending the Riga Tournament and it was great to see them back on tour.

The second Semi-Final was Zemniecki versus Red Cow Belgrade. Who could join DHFC in the Plate Final?

Zemniecki were the Plate favourites as they were the highest ranked of the all teams at the end of the group phase with 10 points but they required a penalty shoot-out to defeat Fail Madrid in the Quarter-Finals.

Red Cow Belgrade had a 100% record in eurofootballfives.com Semi-Finals having qualified for the Final on both occasions although both had been close – a 1-0 win and a penalty shoot-out win. They started off this game looking to make it 3 out of 3 and they were on course to do so when Joe Howitt moved on to 7 for the day.

Red Cow Belgrade lead 1-0 at half-time and eased away from their opponents as Thomas Goyski and Ryan Robinson increased the lead to 3-0. Zemniecki were not going to lie down though as Kristaps Smiltens reduced the deficit to 3-1 and then Janis Klepanis's 6 th of the day made it 3-2. Are you nervous Red Cow Belgrade?

What looked like being their most comfortable Semi-Final win was back in the balance. The English team had enough in the tank to keep their opponents at bay though an it was their third successive Semi-Final win – in the end, it was a third successive close fought Semi-Final win.
