It was 4th versus 6th at the start of Round 3 with Fail Madrid meeting FC Shark. For Fail Madrid there was a chance to go top of the table in what was looking to be a very evenly contested Group A. For FC Shark a victory would put them right in the mix and a share of the lead on 4 points (although the other teams would have a game in hand).

It was FC Shark who drew first blood as they opened the scoring through Andy Stockbridge – the first goal in Group A for five halves of football. Fail Madrid had come from behind in their first game and they were on the comeback trail again when Robert Maller levelled it up at 1-1 and that's how the first half finished.

Could either team go on and win it after the break? The short answer is no as we had our third successive draw in Group A. It was clear this was going to be a group of fine margins.

The final score of 1-1 meant that Fail Madrid joined CAP FC and DHFC at the top on 4 points. The point for FC Shark saw them rise a place to 5th over Aliance (who were still to play in Round 3).

With the result above, L'Albiceleste and DHFC went into their game knowing a win would put them clear at the top. L'Albiceleste could leapfrog the three teams on 4 points and open up a 2 point lead. DHFC could go 3 points clear.

DHFC were currently enjoying their best start to a eurofootballfives.com campaign with 4 points from 6 but they ran into a brick wall in this game. Following three successive draws in Group A this game was relatively open and it was the French team who seized the initiative.

Fateh Bekhouche scored his second goal of the tournament to set L'Albiceleste on their way before Cedric Castarede added a quickfire double to take his tally to the day to five. It was 3-0 to the team from Paris at half-time and there was no way back for DHFC.

DHFC were more competitive in the second half and there was to be no further goals in the game. Since the end of Round 1, L'Albiceleste were the only team picking up wins with draws all around them and they surged up the table to lead the way on 6 points.

To complete Round 3 was CAP FC versus Aliance. Both teams needed the points to climb up the table for different reasons. CAP FC had enjoyed an unbeaten start so far and if they could pick up their second win they would advance to the summit of Group A. Aliance had slipped to the foot of the table and needed a point (or better) to move off the bottom. It is testimony to how tight Group A was that a win would give Aliance a share of second place.

It was Aliance who dealt the first blow in this game when Edgars Polkovs put the Latvian team 1-0 ahead. The team from Riga had lead twice in this tournament but were yet to hold on to their lead. In this game they would retain the lead until half-time.

CAP FC had pulled off a superb win over L'Albiceleste in Round 1 but were in danger of failing to build on that result should they lose here. They pulled it back in the second half as they equalized through Richard Beet. Aliance were unable to hold on to another lead but they did do enough to earn a point – their second draw in as many games. It was also a second draw for CAP FC in their last two games who nudged into second place on their own and just 1 point off the top with two matches still to play.
