Going into the final round of games there were 4 teams who all had a chance of reaching the Cup competition. Two of those teams would meet face to face in Game #13 of Group B. So, what was at stake:

Where's Dave win: They had to win to go level with FLX on 9 points. Assuming Jims40yearoldveg failed to win, they needed a 2 goal win or more to go through on goal difference. A 1 goal win would see FLX go through on goals scored. If Jims40yearoldveg won then they would finish second and Where's Dave won then Jims40yearoldveg would finish second.

Draw: A draw would condemn Where's Dave to the Plate. FLX would qualify for the Cup at the expense of Jims40yearoldveg as long as Jims40yearoldveg did not win by 7.

FLX win: This would seal a Cup place for FLX and mean Where's Dave and Jims40yearoldveg qualify for the Plate. They could potentially win Group B if Futsal Peoes lost and there was a 7 goal swing in goal difference.

There was certainly more at stake for Where's Dave and you could tell they were up for this one. Their efforts went unrewarded though as FLX completed a 1-0 win thanks to Nuno Vitoria. It meant that all of Where's Dave's had been by that same 1-0 score. They would finish fourth which seemed a little harsh based on the overall quality of their play.

Telferscot FC and Peebles All Stars met on Pitch D with both teams knowing this would be their final game at the 2017 Lisbon Tournament. Neither team could qualify for the Plate but they both had the chance to end their tournament on a high.

The teams were playing for pride, honour and (nominally) for 5 th position. A win for either would secure 5 th and a draw would see Peebles All Stars achieve that position.

After the early exchanges it was a familiar feeling for Telferscot FC today as they found themselves trailing. Peter Walker of Peebles All Stars put the Scottish team 1-0 up. After that the goals flowed with Mike Reid bagging a hat-trick to take his total to the day to four. Paul Scrimger scored to make it 5-0 before Dominic Finn's second of the tournament.

There was some small consolation for Telferscot FC as Mark Titcombe scored before Ross Pickburn rounded everything off for 7-1. It was a great note to end on for Peebles All Stars. It was the biggest win of the tournament, a record win in eurofootballfives.com competition for Peebles All Stars and they ended the tournament as the top scoring UK team. They finished with 4 points from a possible 6 which we hope they'll carry into their next event.

We would like to thank both teams for participating in the tournament and we very much hope to see you next year when the Veterans Tournament rolls on to the Algarve in June 2018 and Mallorca in September 2018.

The final game of Group B was Futsal Peoes versus Jims40yearoldveg. Most of the positions were finalized. For Futsal Peoes they needed to avoid losing by 6 to win Group B but a win would maintain their 100% record. They had already guaranteed Cup qualification.

Jims40yearoldveg had finished their last game with hopes of making the Cup but FLX's win against Where's Dave had meant that was now impossible. They would finish third regardless but they had 7 points from 9 and another win would give them a prized scalp and some real momentum going into the knockout phase.

Futsal Peoes had been the standout team in Group B and they only enhanced their reputation further here when they secured their 5th successive victory of the day. Manuel Neto, Paulo Goncalves and Jorge were all on target as they completed a 3-0 victory. It was yet another clean sheet as Isidao Carvalho had gone through the entire group phase without conceding – a superb personal achievement.
