Round
4 of Group A began with Barrymoore's Swimming
Club entertaining Retainers Academy. It was top
versus bottom as the two team's records were the
polar opposite. Barrymoore's Swimming Club had
won 3, scoring 7 without conceding. Retainers
Academy had lost 3, conceding 7 without scoring.
Barrymoore's
Swimming Club had started their 2016 Barcelona
Fives campaign with 4 wins out of 4. They could
match that record with a win here and not to mention
open up a three point lead at the top of Group
A.
The
game went with the form book as Barrymoore's Swimming
Club continued their emphatic start to the tournament.
Bobby Troulis scored his first goal in eurofootballfives.com
competition to set his team on his way. Jay then
made it 2-0. Having scored his first eurofootballfives.com
goal, Bobby Troulis then quickly doubled his tally
to round off a 3-0 victory.
For
Retainers Academy it was now four successive defeats
as they were rooted to the foot of the table.
PMPCAR
were up next and they were up against Indoorsoccer
as Portugal met Portugal. It was Indoorsoccer
who were spearheading the local challenge in Group
A as they had collected 9 points from a possible
9 so far. Another win here and they would stay
hot on the heels of current leaders' Barrymoore's
Swimming Club.
PMPCAR's
form had been more mixed. They had one win, one
draw and one defeat so far. They currently sat
in fifth position but a win could lift them to
third place.
Last
time out Indoorsoccer had been embroiled in a
close game but had edged out Retainers Academy
1-0. It was to be another close game and another
game in which Indoorsoccer would grind out a victory
– also, 1-0.
Bruno
Sousa was the man on target, and the match winner,
for Indoorsoccer. Vitor Goncalves kept his second
clean sheet in a row to help them on their way.
Game
15 of Group A was Cruz Del Sur B versus Brewin
Dolphin. Both of these teams needed the win for
different reasons.
Cruz
Del Sur B were down in 7th and after 3 defeats
needed a confidence boost. They had only lost
2-1 to a team who were still 100% (Indoorsocceer)
so they certainly had the ability to compete but
sometimes a run of defeats can cause heads to
drop and set the tone for a campaign.
For
Brewin Dolphin, they had started off with two
wins but had just tasted defeat for the first
time. They needed a win to keep track with the
leaders. They started the round 3 points off top
but had seen Barrymoore's Swimming Club and Indoorsoccer
both pick up wins in Round 4 and move 6 points
clear.
With
the match underway it was another case of close
but no cigar for Cruz Del Sur B as they lost by
the odd goal for the second time today. For Brewin
Dolphin it was a third clean sheet in four games
– something James Anderson and his defence could
be very proud of. At the other end Geoffrey Hanratty
was on target to win all 3 points for his team
and reduce the lead at the top to three points
again.
The
final thing to wrap up in Round 4 was ADP Netherlands
versus Leave It FC. The Dutch team will have come
into the game with renewed vigour following their
first victory of the day. The win had moved them
up into 6th position and just a point behind the
two teams above them.
One
of those teams above them was Leave It FC. They
sat on 4 points with a positive goal difference
of +1 having had a win, a draw and a defeat to
their name so far. If Leave It FC could avoid
defeat they would keep hold of fourth position
and continue to occupy the final Cup qualification
place.
The
game proved to be a very evenly contested game
between two well matched teams. There was very
little to choose between the two sides and in
the end there would be just the one goal to settle
matters. Cometh the hour, cometh the man and that
man was Remco Nijland who had scored for the second
game in a row.
The
3 points meant ADP Netherlands climbed above PMPCAR
and Leave It FC to claim fourth place. Leave It
FC slipped to fifth.
