Talhos
Mariete came into Round 3 having picked up their
first win of the tournament. Saga Louts found
themselves propping up Group A with The Special
Ones. They were looking to get their first points
of the tournament. With 2 games to go after this
one there was still plenty of time to qualify
for the Cup or the Plate but they would need to
win this one – especially if they harboured Cup
hopes.
The
problem for Saga Louts, with such a tough start,
was that it was easy for confidence to fade and
for morale to drop. Was this a factor in the first
half here? It was another tough game against Talhos
Mariete and the Portuguese team looked to be in
imperious form. They were rampant in the first
half.
Bruno
Clemente had scored 3 already in the tournament
and he was to be on the mark again with a first
half hat-trick as Talhos Mariete went 4-0 up by
half-time. Fernando was also on target as he scored
the goal to make it 3-0.
In
the second half Saga Louts shored things up a
little but they were unable to prevent further
addition to the score. Alexandre Teixeira made
it 5-0 as Talhos Mariete moved on to 6 points
in Group A.
Talhos
Mariete's win above meant there were now 3 teams
locked together on 6 points at the top of the
table. FC Miracle and Compact Records each had
a game in hand. FC Miracle would play that game
in hand now. The Special Ones would be their opponents.
A
quick look at the league table suggested this
may be a home win. FC Miracle had 2 wins from
2, The Special Ones had 2 defeats from 2. FC Miracle
were scoring goals for fun and were yet to concede
in the tournament. This game went to form.
Laszlo
Zsolt was rapidly running away with the top goalscorer
prize with hat-tricks in his first two games.
He would make it a hat-trick of hat-tricks here
in Round 3. He scored the goal that put the Hungarians
ahead before Laszlo Deutsch made it 2-0. He completed
his hat-trick before the half-time whistle came
to The Special Ones rescue.
4-0
at half-time became 5-0 at full-time as Laszlo
Zsolt took his tournament haul to 10 goals. Marton
Rekli completed his third clean sheet and everything
was rosy in the FC Miracle camp.
To
complete Round 3 was Telferscot Athletic versus
Compact Records. Telferscot Athletic were looking
to bounce back from defeat to FC Miracle which
would mean that three teams would share second
place all on 6 points. Compact Records were hoping
to join FC Miracle at the top of the table with
a win of their own.
Telferscot
FC made a first appearance in our tournaments
at last year's 2016 Barcelona Fives. They began
well with a 2-0 win over Ladzio before a 3-0 defeat
to eventual runners-up, The Spice Boys. A second
defeat was followed by a 0-0 draw with Italy's
Atletico Bardino. They then came up against 2011
Valencia Fives & 2012 Krakow Trophy winners
Skidmarks FC. It was a 3-1 defeat before a 1-1
draw versus 2008 Barca Fives winners Rapid Bosco
Navas. They finished on a high with a 2-0 win
over Bruton Black Cats to finish 5 th of 8 teams.
In the Trophy Quarter-Finals they left the competition
to Giggs Boson FC, 3-0. They entered two teams
into the 2017 Lisbon Veterans Tournament. Their
second team was Telferscot Athletic.
The
Telferscot Athletic team featured 5 players from
that Telferscot FC campaign in Barcelona. They
found it tough going against the team from Porto
as Compact Records ran in 3 goals in each half
to record a superb 6-0 win.
Ricardo
Marols got the ball rolling before Nuno Moreia
made it 2-0. Ricardo Marols was on target again
before Jose Coria's second of the day. Ricardo
Marols completed his hat-trick before Fernando
Palmcil completed the scoring.
