Group
B started off with a eurofootballfives.com regular
making their third tournament appearance and winning.
Could AAK S&S do the same?
AAK
S&S joined us in Lisbon after two previous
visits to our Amsterdam Fives event. They competed
in Amsterdam for the first time in 2011. Back
then they started off superbly with a 2-1 win
over GBS Reds (Cze) and 3-2 over Goals Aloud (Wal).
Results then tailed off but against quality opposition
including Inter Women (2011 winners), Biale Orly
then as CEPL (2012 winners) and Rigford Seahawks
(2009 Krakow Trophy winners, 2012 Berlin Fives
winners).
They
returned to the Amsterdam Fives in 2014 and started
off with a 3-0 win over Dutch side Wilhelmus.
They then suffered setbacks against Pajero FC
(3-0) and East Compton Eagles (5-2). A 4-2 win
over FC Copenbadly saw them return to winning
ways before a final group game against 3 times
eurofootballfives.com champions Athletico Do Hollande.
It was a great effort and they pushed their illustrious
opponents all the way but narrowly lost, 3-2.
They were unlucky to finish down in 5th place
which saw them qualify for the Plate. They went
out to eventual (and subsequent 2 x) Plate winners,
St Paul's College Old Boys, 5-3.
AAK
S&S would play their opening game in Lisbon
against Lun-don FC (more on them later in this
report). It was a keenly contested game and a
close game as the final score would suggest. In
the end, just one goal would settle matters.
It
was AAK S&S who got off to the perfect start
as a goal from Richard Clubley and a clean sheet
for Daniel Best helped them on their way to a
1-0 win.
