Group B began with an England versus Scotland clash as Where's Dave met Peebles All Stars.

Where's Dave were part of the Bure Park Old Boys stable of teams. Over recent seasons they consistently entered two teams into the tournament and this was the second time they had used the Where's Dave nomenclature. The last time was also here in Lisbon at the 2015 Lisbon Tournament. They drew a tough group and finished 6th to qualify for the third tier Trophy competition. They then drew 1-1 with Spider Mans & Eagle in the Quarter-Finals and won the tie on penalties. This was a particularly good result against a team who would reach the 2016 Krakow Trophy Cup Final. They then lost 1-0 to Red Cow Belgrade in the Semi-Finals.

We'll preview Peebles All Stars in more detail later but they were making their second eurofootballfives.com appearance. It was Where's Dave who got the scoring started with Matt Johnson scoring the first goal in Group B.

Peebles All Stars levelled things up at 1-1 thanks to Mike Reid. Where's Dave forged ahead again when Matt Johnson scored his second of the game to make it 2-1. Chris Weedon had the final say as he made it 3-1 to secure a good opening 3 points for the English team.

Match 2 saw FLX take on Jims40yearoldveg.

Jims40yearoldveg were a team technically on debut but they did have a couple of players who had played in our tournaments before. Rob Nash and Jim Harbridge were part of the Nascherano Six who played in the inaugural Amsterdam Fives all the way back in 2008. Back then the Nascherano Six lost their opening two games but won their final group game 5-2 against Holland's Zandi Boys to finish third in their 4-team group. They set up a Plate Quarter-Final against Exiles but went down 5-0.

FLX were on debut so we would get our first glimpse of them in action. It was an impressive start for the Portuguese who took the lead through Luis Teixeira. 1-0 became 2-0 when Ruben Luz doubled the advantage. Jims40yearoldveg were back in it when Kev Foskett scored their first in Europe.

Nuno Vitoria restored the two goal lead to make it 3-1 to FLX and the game was put to bed when Ruben Luz made it 4-1.

The final teams in Group B to start their challenge were Telferscot FC versus Futsal Peoes.

Telferscot FC (Eng) made a first appearance in our tournaments at last year's 2016 Barcelona Fives. They began well with a 2-0 win over Ladzio before a 3-0 defeat to eventual runners-up, The Spice Boys. A second defeat was followed by a 0-0 draw with Italy's Atletico Bardino. They then came up against 2011 Valencia Fives & 2012 Krakow Trophy winners Skidmarks FC. It was a 3-1 defeat before a 1-1 draw versus 2008 Barca Fives winners Rapid Bosco Navas. They finished on a high with a 2-0 win over Bruton Black Cats to finish 5th of 8 teams. In the Trophy Quarter-Finals they left the competition to Giggs Boson FC, 3-0.

They had a tougher start here in Lisbon as Futsal Peoes made a bright start to the day. Bruno Bambo scored the first goal for the Portuguese team to set them on their way. Joaquim and Jorge added a second and third respectively before Paulo Goncalves completed the scoring in the 4-0 win. Telferscot FC….welcome to Lisbon!
