At the start of Round 2 we had Brewin Dolphin versus Retainers Academy.

Retainers Academy were making their second eurofootballfives.com appearance. They featured for the first time at the 2016 Amsterdam Fives. From their 4 group games they claimed 2 wins and 2 defeats (one against the eventual winners and one against the 2016 Krakow Trophy runners-up). It meant they finished third and qualified for Cup as one of the top two third placed finishers. There was an 11 goal thriller in the Cup Quarter-Finals but they went out 8-3.

They have a second team in the tournament (Jackson's 5's) with only 2 of their 7 players from Amsterdam featuring here for The Retainers Academy. This much changed line up and suffered a 3-0 defeat in their opening game and they were to find it tough here too.

In contrast, Brewin Dolphin continued their form from the first game here as they made the initial breakthrough courtesy of James Carrick's first goal of the morning. It was 4 goals without reply for them and it was to get even better. James Carrick went on to make it 2-0 and then complete his hat-trick for 3-0.

It was a good win for Brewin Dolphin as they were the early pacesetters in Group A.

Indoorsoccer were making their second appearance at the Lisbon Tournament. They made their debut at the 2015 event and did pretty well. They finished second in their group with a record of 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat as they qualified for the Cup. They beat BUILDers 3-0 in the Quarter-Finals before a 2-0 defeat to the winners Bubble Football in the Semi-Finals.

Indoorsoccer had started out with a 2-1 win and were looking to join Brewin Dolphin at the top of the table. They would not have an easy task against Leave It FC who had secured a 3-0 win in their opener. A place at the top was also on offer for Leave It FC if they could take all three points.

It was first blood to Portugal as Indoorsoccer as Alexandre Ribeiro got off the mark for the day. Leave It FC were not behind for long though as Ketan Petal equalised to make it 1-1. Indoorsoccer were ahead again when Diogo Lourenco hit the back of the net. The next goal was going to be crucial – could Leave It FC restore parity again or would Indoorsoccer make the game safe?

Sadly for Leave It FC fans there would be disappoint as Jorge Nargarido sealed the 3-1 victory.

The seventh game of Group A was Barrymoore's Swimming Club versus ADP Netherlands.

ADP Netherlands (Hol) were making their fourth eurofootballfives.com appearance and their third on foreign soil. They first starred at the 2013 Barcelona Fives with two squads. The first team made an impact in the group phase by winning Group A whilst the second team struggled by finishing 5th in Group C. The ADP Netherlands first team then went out in the Cup Quarter-Finals on penalties to Sporting Gingham. They also boasted the tournament's top goalscorer as Jan Van Rabenswaiij finished with 7 for the tournament. They then appeared at the 2014 Amsterdam Fives finishing joint 2nd in Group C. The Cup Quarter-Finals tripped them up again as they went out 3-1 to Team Extreme.

A second appearance of 2014 and a second appearance in Catalonia saw them appear at the 2014 Barcelona Fives. In Group A they were unbeaten with 2 wins and 2 draws as they finished second. It was a really tough group that featured the 2016 Krakow Trophy winners (Tinniedad & Tobacco), the 2016 Barcelona Fives winners (Elcombe Old Boys) and 2 times plate winners, Naranjitos. Amazingly, second place only saw them qualify for the Plate. They produced a sensational 11-1 win over The Matt-Adors in the Quarter-Finals before a 0-0 draw with Red Cow Belgrade in the Semi-Finals. They missed out on the final due to a 5-4 defeat in the penalty shoot-out.

Today, the Dutch team had suffered a 3-0 defeat to Brewin Dolphin in their opening fixture and faced a tough prospect in their second game. Barrymoore's Swimming Club had won their opener 3-0 and would soon be on the winning trail again.

The English team went 1-0 up through Jason James. Sari Itani then made it 2-0 which took him to 3 goals for the day and surpassing his tournament total in Barcelona already. The win was wrapped up when Jason James made it 3-0. Barrymoore's Swimming Club were looking in ominous form.

PMPCAR versus Cruz Del Sur B would be the final game of Round 2. Both teams had suffered defeats in the first round so were looking to bounce back quickly. Cruz Del Sur B had suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat but PMPCAR's defeat was a heavier 3-0 one.

We touched a little on Cruz Del Sur B's history in Round 1 when we mentioned their recent 2016 Riga form. Their full history is when they made their debut at the 2012 Barcelona Fives as Banter Bus FC and it was a fine debut. They finished 2nd in their 5 team group behind Budapest Celtic Lions before going out to eventual winners Black Sheep of Spain in the Cup Quarter-Finals. In Hungary 12 months later they make a twin-pronged attack on the 2013 Budapest Fives title with two teams. The BBFC2 team finished 5th in their group. BBFC2 picked up a 1-0 win in the Plate Quarters before a Semi-Final exit at the hands of Meglepetes – a good Hungarian side who made the Cup Semi-Finals in 2015 and won the Budapest Fives in 2016.

July 2015 saw them rebranded as Cruz Del Sur A and B and travel to Amsterdam where storm Zejko defeated all teams. Cruz Del Sur B finished 4th in their group in hugely challenging conditions before the Code Red weather warning curtailed the day's activities. Then came the 2016 Riga appearance that saw a 5th place finish and Trophy Quarter-Final exit.

Cruz Del Sur B would sadly be heading for their second defeat of the day as PMPCAR scored two goals without reply to pick up their first win. Pedro Domingos scored their first of the tournament before Paulo Tavares made it safe.
