Round
4 of Group A began with two teams in need of a
victory. Saga Louts and The Special Ones were
struggling down in 5th and 6th position. Only
goal difference separated them and only the one
goal at that. There were still 6 points on offer
so a place in the Plate was still feasible but
if either team were to qualify they realistically
had to win this. A draw would not be much use
for either team in the context of the Group A
table.
The
first goal of this game was likely to be crucial.
If either team was to concede the first goal there
could well be that sinking feeling. A goal lead
would be a welcome boost to the team who could
claim it. Larry Moore was the man to score the
all important goal and Saga Louts never looked
back.
A
Richard Holliday goal made it 2-0 before half-time.
After the change of ends Holliday was on target
again for 3-0. Larry Moore added his second of
the game for 4-0 before Richard Holliday went
on to seal his hat-trick to round off a superb
5-0 win.
Up
next on Pitch C was the big one – Compact Records
versus FC Miracle. Both teams had a 100% record
so far with 3 wins from 3. One, or potentially
both, of these teams would lose that record here.
The winner of this game would virtually guarantee
Cup qualification. A draw would see both teams
edge closer but make it very tight – especially
if Talhos Mariete were to win in the next game.
We
thought before the tournament that FC Miracle
would be the team to watch and after 3 games they
were the team to beat. They had scored 12 goals
without reply so far. Compact Records were not
too far behind with a goal difference of 11-2.
This
was the toughest game FC Miracle had played so
far but they still managed to forge ahead when
Zoltan Kedves scored his first goal of the tournament.
The Hungarian team lead 1-0 at half-time.
In
the second half Laszlo Zsolt doubled the lead
with what was to be his 11 th goal of the tournament.
Laszlo Zsolt has one top goalscorer award to his
name already when he scored 12 goals at the 2012
Valencia Fives. He would almost certainly win
the award here in Lisbon. Would his goals fire
FC Miracle to victory?
They
did in this game (2-0) but we would have to wait
and see if they were enough to win the entire
tournament. So far so good for FC Miracle though.
Telferscot
Athletic were back in action when they entertained
Talhos Mariete. Telferscot Athletic's 3-1 win
over The Special Ones seemed a long time ago now
with two demoralizing defeats against FC Miracle
and Compact Records. This looked like another
difficult fixture ahead of the English team.
Talhos
Mariete, which literally translates as Mariete
Butchers, were on form. They narrowly lost 2-1
to Compact Records before two wins in a row. Talhos
Mariete forged ahead again here when Alexandre
Teixeira and Bruno Silva put them two up by the
break. There was to be no further addition to
the score in the second period as the Portuguese
claimed their third win in succession to move
up to second in the table.
Telferscot
Athletic slipped a place in the table from fourth
to fifth.
