Our
2018 season kicked off in style in Lisbon as
a very strong field of 24 teams competed for
glory. A multi-national field comprised teams
from Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, England, Ireland,
Morocco, Poland, Portugal and Spain and plenty
more nationalities contained within those teams.
It
was Saipan FC who emerged victorious after a
great campaign which saw them suffer just 1
defeat on the way to the title. That defeat
was to Galacticos in the group phase who they
then defeated in the Cup Final to win the coveted
trophy. It was a second title win for Saipan
FC who also won the 2015 Mallorca Tournament
title. For Galacticos it was a second runners-up
finish after also doing so at the 2010 Valencia
Fives.
The Plate competition was as strong as some
of our Cup competitions in other tournaments.
We were treated to a high quality final between
2017 Lisbon Tournament winners Pangare Futebol
Clube (Bra) and 2017 Amsterdam Fives winners,
BSP FC. It finished 2-2 in normal time before
BSP FC won 3-1 on penalties.
The
Trophy Final saw Trinacria A of Belgium triumph
over Tysers of England. Penalties were again
required after a 1-1 draw this time. Trinacria
A won the shoot-out 3-1 to take home the winners
medals.
Personal honours, for the first time ever in
our tournaments, were shared as Hector Navarro
Real (Saipan FC) and Hamza Patel (Galacticos)
both scored 10 goals in the tournament. Well
done to both of them.
A
big thank you to all 24 teams for what was a
superb weekend. See you all soon.
