As we entered the final Round of games we started with a big fixture in terms of Cup qualification. It was second placed Indoorsoccer PSP against third placed Saipan FC. The Portuguese were currently 1 point ahead of their opponents.

Indoorsoccer PSP needed only a point to qualify for the Cup. They could win Group D if they avoided defeat and matched or bettered the result of Galacticos. If they matched the result of Galacticos they would need to overturn the current 4 goal deficit of goal difference.

Saipan FC needed to win to guarantee Cup qualification and they would then win Group D if Galacticos failed to win their final group game. If it was a draw then they would need Galacticos to lose heavily to make second. A defeat would mean the Plate for Saipan FC.

In what was a very even game there was to be no breakthrough in the first half period. This was certainly a result that suited Indoorsoccer PSP more than Saipan FC. The onus was on the Irish team to try and force a result….and they did.

Hector Navarro Real was in the goals again – just one this time but Saipan FC only needed one. Richie Magnier kept his second clean sheet in a row and so Hector Navarro Real's 8th strike of the day was decisive. Final score, 1-0 to Saipan FC.

Trinacria B met FC Broxelona B in the penultimate game of Group D. This game had implications for qualification into the Plate and Trophy competitions. FC Broxelona B had just picked up their first win of the day and would no doubt fancy their chances against the team at the foot of the table. If FC Broxelona B were to win and/or at least better the result of Lanky Londoners then Broxelona would qualify for the Plate at the expense of Lanky Londoners. The Londoners also had a very difficult tie against Galacticos to come.

Looking at the match from the Trinacria B perspective it was still possible for them to finish joint fourth in terms of points with a win and a Lanky Londoners loss. Goal difference was such that they were always likely to finish 6th (outside chance of 5th with a four goal win) and qualify for the Trophy.

As with the previous game in Round 5, with the game underway it was a pretty even contest. There were no goals in evidence in the opening period and as we reached half-time at 0-0. Again, with parallels to the previous game, there was to be a solitary second half goal to decide the match. Perhaps surprisingly it was Trinacria B that scored it – their first of the tournament! Garcia Aitor was the man to provide the final touch and claim all 3 points for the Belgian team.

So, it finished 1-0 to Trinacria B and both these teams would qualify for the Trophy competition.

That left us with Galacticos versus Lanky Londoners to conclude proceedings in Group D. With 14 out of 15 games completed these two teams knew exactly what they needed to do.

Galacticos needed to win this game to win Group D. A draw would mean second place and Cup qualification. A defeat would be ok as long as it was not by 6 goals or more. If it was Indoorsoccer PSP would take second place.

Lanky Londoners were currently in 4th and could not finish any higher than 4th. A draw or a victory would guarantee Plate football. If they were to lose then it would come down to goal difference between Lanky Londoners, FC Broxelona B and Trinacria B for positions 4 to 6. Goal difference before kick off here was Lanky Londoners (0), FC Broxelona B (-8) and Trinacria B (-13). So, as long as they didn't get spanked then Lanky Londoners would be playing Plate football this afternoon.

That never looked on the cards and Lanky Londoners actually lead the way at half-time. Goals from the Barcelona branch of Lanky Londoners - Jack Stratford and Dani Conejo outgunned Hamza Patel's strike for Galacticos in the opening period.

In the second half Galacticos preserved their unbeaten record when Hamza Patel scored his second of the game to make it 2-2. It meant Galacticos finished second in the group behind Saipan FC. Indoorsoccer PSP slipped to the Plate where Lanky Londoners would join them in the Quarter-Finals. FC Broxelona B and Trinacria B would contest the Trophy.
