Trinacria
B met FC Broxelona B in the penultimate game
of Group D. This game had implications for qualification
into the Plate and Trophy competitions. FC Broxelona
B had just picked up their first win of the
day and would no doubt fancy their chances against
the team at the foot of the table. If FC Broxelona
B were to win and/or at least better the result
of Lanky Londoners then Broxelona would qualify
for the Plate at the expense of Lanky Londoners.
The Londoners also had a very difficult tie
against Galacticos to come.
Looking
at the match from the Trinacria B perspective
it was still possible for them to finish joint
fourth in terms of points with a win and a Lanky
Londoners loss. Goal difference was such that
they were always likely to finish 6th (outside
chance of 5th with a four goal win) and qualify
for the Trophy.
As
with the previous game in Round 5, with the
game underway it was a pretty even contest.
There were no goals in evidence in the opening
period and as we reached half-time at 0-0. Again,
with parallels to the previous game, there was
to be a solitary second half goal to decide
the match. Perhaps surprisingly it was Trinacria
B that scored it – their first of the tournament!
Garcia Aitor was the man to provide the final
touch and claim all 3 points for the Belgian
team.
So,
it finished 1-0 to Trinacria B and both these
teams would qualify for the Trophy competition.
