Group B began with Danish Dynamites versus FC United of Bob.

Danish Dynamites (Den) became the first team to represent Denmark in our tournaments when they competed at the 2017 Barcelona Fives. It was a hugely impressive debut. They won Group D with 16 points from their 7 games and this included finishing above the defending champions, Elcombe Old Boys.

In the knock-out phase they progressed through the Quarter-Finals with a 2-0 win over Fiorentina Turner 2 and then drew France's L'Albiceleste in the Semi-Finals. The French team had won 2 of our titles before and Danish Dynamites secured a 0-0 draw. The French team won 2-1 on penalties. Could it be victory for Denmark in Portugal?

Despite a slow start, they began well against FC United of Bob (more on them later). After a goal-less first half the Danish team cranked it up in the second period. Jens Bodker Knudsen scored their first goal of the day before Jesper Frisch doubled the advantage. Kasper Lindof put the cherry on a pretty sweet first game cake for Danish Dynamites as they ran out 3-0 winners.

Match 2 saw AFC Basemen (Eng) versus ASCPM (Mor). Both teams were on debut and so they had a blank canvas upon which to paint their footballing artistry. ASCPM had just their sister squad, ASMS, open up with a 0-0 draw in Group A. Could they at least match that or maybe improve on it as their campaign got underway? Let the games commence……

Once the referee had blown for kick-off it was the English team who got off to the perfect start. Jack Utting would claim the honour of scoring his team's first goal in Europe. Not only would he score AFC Basemen's first European goal but he would claim the second too. Adam Speake would turn 2-0 to 3-0 and this European football lark was being made to look easy by the travelling English team.

The team from Morocco found their feet a little in the second half and they pulled a goal back through Bouazzaoui Othmane to make it 3-1. Sadly for them it was to be a mere consolation.

The last two teams to take to the field were Futsal Pioes (Por) and FC Broxelona A (Eng)…..or, so we thought.

Futsal Pioes called in just minutes before tournament kick-off to say they were unable to fulfil their space at the tournament. Fortunately, with the tournament not to kick-off we had time to scrap their fixtures and increase the length of the games in Group B to ensure the other teams in the group didn't miss out on footballing minutes on the field.
