Last but not least, we come to Group D where the group began with two experienced eurofootballfives.com teams taking to the field. We had Ireland's Saipan FC making appearance number 8 and FC Broxelona B making appearance number 3.

Saipan FC were 1 of 4 previous tournament winners in the tournament today having won the 2015 Mallorca Tournament. They were also 1 of just 8 teams in eurofootballfives.com history to have won both a Plate and a Cup during their careers (2014 Valencia Fives Plate winners).

It was a bright start for the Irish team as they opened up a 2-0 lead thanks to Hector Navarro Real and Julian Cornelus goals. When they kicked off the second half they were in a strong position.

FC Broxelona B, making their third tournament with eurofootballfives.com, were back in the game in the second half though. Aaron Sunnar scored to make it 2-1. Saipan FC restored their two goal advantage thanks to Hector Navarro Real. The lead was reduced to one goal again as Lewis Frood made it 3-2.

That was the end of the scoring. Saipan FC were up and running.

 
 
 

Match 2 in Group D saw Indoorsoccer PSP (Por) versus Lanky Londoners (Eng).

Due to the late withdrawal of Jimmer Booty FC, Indoorsoccer PSP very kindly stepped in at the last minute. Indoorsoccer were already playing in Group C so they boosted their ranks and split into two teams. Indoorsoccer had previously reached two Cup Semi-Finals so how would Indoorsoocer PSP fare?

Lanky Londoners (Eng) competed at the 2017 Barcelona Fives as Good Latitude. They were drawn in a tough group but performed well as they claimed 4 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats and recorded a positive goal difference of +3. They finished 4th out of 8 teams which saw them qualify for the Plate. They drew 1-1 in the Quarter-Finals with Welsh team FourInTina before going out 7-6 in an epic penalty shoot-out.

It was the Portuguese team who made the early running in this tie as Rui Nunes and Bruno Sousa (2) gave Indoorsoccer PSP a 3-1 lead. Jack Stratford's first half goal for Lanky Londoners meant they were still in the hunt.

In the second period Enrique Martinez scored for Lanky Londoners to make it 3-2 but the equaliser proved elusive as Indoorsoccer PSP held on for all 3 points.

 
 
 

The last two teams to get underway were Trinacria B versus Galacticos. Trinacria (Bel) had already seen their A team lose in Group C – could they improve on their A team's result? It would be tough against a Galacticos side.

Galacticos (Eng) return to eurofootballfives.com action for their fifth European campaign with us. On their previous appearances they have reached a Cup Semi-Final (2009 Barca Fives), finished Runners-Up (2010 Valencia Fives), Cup Quarter Finals (2013 Algarve Open, out on penalties) and Cup Quarter-Finals (2017 Barcelona Fives, out on penalties).

The English team made the initial breakthrough as Zeeshan Ali scored their first of the day. Galacticos took a 1-0 lead into half-time. After the break they stretched that lead with a double from Hamza Patel and Yaaseen Patel also on target. Final score, 4-0.
