Round 4 of Group A began in what was a very hotly contested group. Realistically, any of the top 5 could still claim the two places up for grabs in the Cup competition. The first two teams to stake their claim would be PMPCAR versus ASMS. It was a battle of the top two. If either of these teams could claim victory they would be in a very strong position going into Round 5.

PMPCAR would no doubt start favourites as they were the top scoring team in the group with 7 goals and had the highest points haul of the two teams. ASMS had the best defence though with just 1 goal conceded and were also unbeaten – this appeared to be their biggest challenge yet.

It was ASMS who broke the deadlock though. Benyahya Hicham's first goal of the tournament gave the team from Rabat a precious 1-0 lead. In the early stages of the second half 1-0 became 2-0 as Noureddine Zahir scored to give the Moroccan team what looked to be an unassailable lead.

With time running out PMPCAR needed a hero. They found out – Paulo Tavares. The Portuguese player dubbed “Gato Serra” scored twice in the final two minutes to rescue a point for his team. Final score, 2-2.

The point would ensure PMPCAR would lead Group A at the end of Round 4. It was a tough end to the game for ASMS and it gave the chasing pack hope.

Wessex FC were up next and would come into the game on a high. They had just picked up their first win of the tournament. Could that act as a catalyst for better things to come?

Giggs Boson FC on the other hand needed a catalyst of their own as they had suffered three defeats. They came closest in their last game with a narrow defeat against ASMS.

Group A had largely been characterised by tight games so far but this game went goal crazy. It was to be the highest scoring game of the entire tournament and the biggest victory of the tournament.

It was largely due to a blistering start by Wessex FC that saw them go 5-0 up in just a few minutes. Isaac Thompson (2), Bilal Salouache (2) and Anthony Scarlett effectively sealed the destination of the points in the opening salvo. Connor Lawson's goal gave Giggs Boson FC the final say before the break though, 5-1 at HT.

5-1 became 7-1 after Anthony Scarlett and Abubakar Mohamed increased the lead. Connor Lawson got a second of the game for Giggs Boson before Hasan Hussain put the seal on a stunning 8-2 win.

Game 12 of Group A was Tinniedad & Tobacco versus Naranjitos. These two teams had met before back at the 2014 Barcelona Fives. On that occasion it was Tinniedad & Tobacco who emerged victorious, 2-0, with goals from Jon McKinley and Michael Wilkes. It was a result that won Group A for the Tins back in Barcelona (on their eurofootballfives debut).

Tinniedad & Tobacco still had hopes of winning Group A here in Lisbon but they would need to take all three points from this fixture. Other results in Round 4 had seen them slip to fourth but a win could take them joint 2 nd and just 1 point behind the leaders.

Naranjitos could also still qualify for the Cup. With 3 draws so far a win would see them climb to third on 6 points (2 behind the leaders) and a game against the bottom team to come. They had to get something from this game though.

The first half came and went with the two teams locked at 0-0. A draw would not really suit either team and leave them too much to do going into the final round of games. Could these teams find the goal(s) they desperately needed?

For one team that answer was no, for the other it was a yes. It would be Tinniedad & Tobacco celebrating as Michael Wilkes scored the vital goal. It was his fourth goal of the tournament and his goal here helped see off the challenge of Naranjitos in Lisbon as it did in Barcelona four years ago. Tinniedad's hopes of a second title were still very much alive.
