It was 3rd versus 1st at the start of Round 3 with Naranjitos (Spa) meeting PMPCAR (Por). It was a team with two draws against a team with two wins.

Naranjitos needed the win to climb up into second place as games were beginning to run out. PMPCAR could establish a 5 point lead at the top if they were to collect a third successive victory.

In what was another close game between two evenly matched teams there was nothing to separate the two opponents with both defences on top. It was 0-0 at half-time.

Could either team find a successful path to goal after the break? The short answer is no. Despite lots of attacking intent the goalkeepers and the defences remained dominant. It was another clean sheet for Tomas Acuna Portillo and another draw for his team – 3 in a row.

The result ended PMPCAR's 100% record but they remained unbeaten. With 7 points from a possible 9 the Portuguese team were well placed in Group A.

Game 8 of Group A was ASMS versus Giggs Boson FC. The Moroccan team had made a very steady start to life in eurofootballfives.com competition. They had two 0-0 draws so far but needed a win to launch up the group table. Giggs Boson FC, despite 2 defeats, could climb above their opponents if they could fashion a victory.

There was first half success for Giggs Boson FC as Connor Lawson became the first man to breach the ASMS defence today. At the other end Chaoui Hicham became ASMS's first goal-scorer in our tournaments. It was 1-1 at half-time.

We had seen Naranjitos produce three draws from three games, were ASMS heading the same way? They put themselves in pole position for victory when Chaoui Hicham registered his second of the game to put the Moroccan team 2-1 ahead.

It was always going to be tough for Giggs Boson to respond against a well drilled defence. They had managed it in the first half but were unable to manage it in the second half as the English team slipped to a narrow defeat. The win saw ASMS climb to second in the table with 1 game still to go in Round 3.

To complete Round 3 was Tinniedad & Tobacco versus Wessex FC. Both teams needed the points but for different reasons. Tinniedad & Tobacco needed a win to join PMPCAR at the summit of Group A. Wessex FC had just 1 point so far and needed a win to keep them in contention for a place in the Cup.

Coming into today's tournament Tinniedad & Tobacco had one of the most impressive group records of all our teams. In 19 group games they had picked up 14 wins, 4 draws and just the 1 defeat. They had scored 45 goals whilst conceding just 12 over that same period. Today, you could add another win and draw to that tally with another 4 goals scored and 1 more conceded.

This was the size of Wessex FC's task in securing their first eurofootballfives.com win – a task they were up to! In the third minute they were on their way with an Anthony Scarlett goal. It was a goal that would give them a 1-0 lead going into the break.

At the start of the second half Michael Wilkes notched his third goal of the tournament to bring Tinniedad & Tobacco level. With 2 minutes to go though Wessex FC were back in front. Bilal Salouache's second goal of the day put his team 2-1 up and they retained their lead until the final whistle.

It was a first win of the day for Wessex FC and what a scalp it was.
